I tore down my 120g system and set up my 187g system this past weekend. The majority of the rock went into the new system. Most of the sand is new with about 40 pounds of old sand brought over.

I was thinking that I would know the tank was ready for another Battlebox when I start seeing coralline algae growing. Is that a pretty good indicator or should I be looking at something else?

Just watch for your nutrients. Sometimes sand being scooped out and added to another tank can be like a nuke went off. I’d wait a couple weeks personally. Coraline can take awhile

When parameters are stable biologically and chemically.

Depending on the species , immediately.

Fwiw. Read up on how MR Dana cycles a tank in his articles.
