Hello fellow reefers,

Had my tank running now for 5 months and absolutely love the hobby. Currently got 3 softies and 3 lps which are all thriving and growing well so want to try my first sps. What is the best first/beginner friendly sps coral?

Thanks in advance

Dom

Monti, Birdsnest, Pocilipora or Stylophora are all good first beginner SPS.

Save the acropora until later.

Birdsnest, montipora, or digitata would be my recommendations, they are rather inexpensive and fairly hardy.

Thank you for the recommendations, sorry for the newbie question but would like to place it here ( highlighted in photo) would this be ok or would it need to be placed away from other corals?

Sps prefer higher light and flow, your spot looks good to me.

Brilliant, thank you for the reply, originally wanted a marine tank for the fish but since I’ve started keeping corals the fish have taken a back seat, it’s all about corals, I love them
