I pretty much mixed my water the same way I always do, but usually it clears within an hour. It's been 24 hours and still milky... any ideas as to how to get this cleared up faster?

I guess we'd need to know how you do this in the first place.

If you're just mixing salt, and there's heaters and powerheads in there, the only thing I can think of is that somehow mismeasured the amount of salt you added.

Are those home can lights above your tank?

Is the pH normal?

I just added salt mix as i was filling tank... measured according to directions

Just like you said, but i matured out the salt like always.... instead of 5g at a time i was mixing for 30g (10g from existing tank to be added once the water clears)

Measured... sheesh. Autocorruption and the ap jacked the post to boot

What salt and what is the salinity of the tank now? I see a bag Epson salt in your picture. Not the correct salt for a reef aquarium.

I dose with that monthly.

Reef crystals salt. And i mixed a 5g bucket about an hour ago to have on backup supply and it clears in an hour. I just don't understand why this tank is taking longer than a 5g bucket to clear

What is your salinity ? First thing you need to answer as it might be the problem.

Did you have the tank filled with the appropriate amount of water before adding the correct amount of salt?

You cannot add salt mix to insufficient water as salt mix components will precipitate.
They may never dissolve.

I've done it this way many times in my 5g bucket... never had an issue before.

Any ideas on what needs to happen now?

If you are adding water to the salt and not salt to water, it can cause calcium to precipitate out of solution which could be the cause of the cloudy water. Reef Crystals already has high alk/ca which can make precipitation more likely. Always add salt to water, not water to salt. What you want to do is up to you. If it's still cloudy today I would dump and start over mixing once the tank is almost full of RO/DI....assuming no live sand or live rock/critters are in the tank.

That is an option as it is otherwise empty
