That pic makes it look better than what ive seen before. I've also never seen it in person.
It's just most of the Frags on here I've seen don't look that impressive considering the price.

Usually a "frag" never looks as good as the coral when it's a full sized colony....I think that we all buy frags so that one day they'll look good as a mother colony.

Well ya of course...

Don't take offense, I'm not coming here to bash it, I was looking for why people loved it. Wanted someone to tell me it shoots fireworks out of it's eye at night or something crazy.

I love chalices and I'm always looking for that crazy piece that blows people mind. This just is a hot one right now and I wanted to know exactly why.

I don't think anyone is getting mad at you over it :)

If you are wondering why the price is so high...well, that's what people will pay for it. It's a somewhat rare piece, and the price will continue to drop as the piece is obtained by more people....It once went for $2000 an eye...

If you are looking to get a piece without paying the huge price tag, try looking at the group buy section. A few of us are doing group buys on it right now.

I remember when i first stepped in wwc..the fist thing i noticed in the huge tank in front of me was the really really bright chalice..which was the my miami

yeah you don't really get to see why things cost so much until you actually see one in person ... esp if its a colony if your lucky.

I have the "Not My Miami" aka "Nizmo's watermelon chalice" that has the same coloring. Its not as nice as the My Miami, but I didn't pay $1500 for it either. I can't see spending so much on a tiny frag but if you like it that much and you've got the cash, why not. I think its only as rare as it is because of the price tag, especially since I've heard its a pretty good grower.

What is the going Market Price for it now? I will reiterate what was said above, and that is that My Miami is the one taht eyes fall on first in the gigantic and amazing 300G display tank. Its colors POP like none I've ever seen.

Hard to say. I would guesstimate higher than 500 and lower than 1000...but don't be surprised if you could find it for lower or higher and don't be surprised if people are willing to pay more than that.

I have it sitting in the midst of a bunch of other chalice frags, including a NMM, and though it's colors aren't some crazy kaleidoscope like some have, they're just intense. It's sorta easy to become desensitized to it, but I'll randomly look and go "oh wait, it's not just my actinics on right now" The thing literally just glows all the time as if you had on only your actinics. I think a lot of the photo's typically shown are sort of doing it a disservice as they tend heavily towards actinics, and really, the coral doesn't need them to look shocking.
