Again from the wildlife sanctuary just down the road in Northern Virginia.
Great Blue Heron.

Stanley, if I ever do a "Fish Being Eaten by a Bird" as the monthly POTM theme, you my friend are a shoo-in. Another great shot.

In our backyard small strip of woods we have a small group of deer, a fox, bald eagle nest, groundhogs, rabbits, a raccoon, and I dunno if the neighbor knows it or not but they have a big ol’ pretty skunk under their deck. Today the bald eagles were repairing their nest with big sticks. It was cool to see them swoop and grab them then fly overhead back to the nest.

Great Egrets spend the summer at the sanctuary, although they don't nest here. Mostly these are young birds heading South this time of year. Early sunrise shots of these white birds make for nice B&W conversions.

Silver Redhorse - Moxostoma anisurum

This was an early spring photo on a local Lake Erie Trib., unfortunately these fish have become known as an invasive species:confused:. In reality looking up local and state wildlife websites they are indeed a native species a lot of people take it upon themselves to kill off the "invasive species".

This is during their spring breeding run, these ones were stacked on top of one another taking a breather at the top of a waterfall.

These fish can provide hours of entertainment with fishing, I have heard them call poor man's tarpon. Lighting fast runs and pretty high endurance too. We have managed to catch a few knocking on the 10 lb mark.

Sonoran Desert Toad, toxic and deadly to dogs. This guy lives on my patio and eats June Bugs or anything that will fit in it's mouth.
Toads and frogs are my favorite animals, with Sea Lions coming in second.

It's monsoon season here which brings out Toads, Snakes and Tarantula.

Time to revise this thread.
Another fish (big fish) being eaten by a bird!

Great shot to revive the thread Stanley!

Terrible shot taken with cell phone while paddling a kayak against the tide, but this was shot just last weekend.

Our property is full of life this time of year.. bluebirds already have two clutches done, tree swallows are using a bluebird box too. Turkeys have been around and the ever present deer. Lots of song birds and hummers and raptors are always here.

She’s a nice big doe. Lots of does around so never need to buy meat. They sure make it hard to grow apple trees!! 2C24CCFA-CC57-4963-9EC5-397F82D73827.jpeg
