Hello everyone!

I am about to install my new plumbing in my new 150-gallon tank. I ordered a couple of 1" check valves off Amazon. They arrived yesterday and I noticed they have metal springs to keep it closed after water stops. Will these metal springs become an issue with Saltwater?

I wouldn’t use them. Make sure your sump can handle any and all backflow and build siphon breaks. Those will restrict flow and almost always fail at some point in time.

IMO check valves don't work. Mine failed from day 1. I'd recommend skipping the check valve and just making sure your sump is large enough to handle any back flow. And regarding the metal, I'd avoid anything with metal parts.

Thanks. Yeah I currently dont have a check valve on my return pump and it is set up to not overflow. Everytime I turn off my pump it drains a lot into the sump and always messes with my ATO. I usually turn off the ATO through my Apex and let it stabilize before turning back on.

Mine has never failed and it's clear. I like the non rush of water and bubbles back flushing from the return pump when I shut it down. I don't even have to **** off the skimmer.
Edit: shut off the skimmer..
My phone has a very good memory.
Sometimes I think having a phone is like having a second wife, it always seems to remember the bad things

In full action. No metal, the rubber flapper is sandwiched between plastic.
I have the same one from Marine Depot. I needed another so I ordered off Amazon. I will just order the second from Marine Depot again.

That is a wooden air bubbler for a 4 hour nano/micro bubble cleansing of the display after lights out. Some really like it, some say it causes problems. A big thread on this site about it. Basically turns the display into a skimmer, micro bubbles attach to waste and float it down the overflow into a sock. I'm a farmer, so spring and fall I can be on a tractor 14 hours a day for 4 months at a time, I need all the help I can get to keep a clean tank. That's what it is. Attached to a Tom's aqua lifter pump w/ a needle valve for volume control, and airline to the outside for a fresh air intake.
