So I had planned to keep my sump in my fish maintenance room behind my display tank. I mistakenly had the sump platform built a bit too high. So it is not below the level of the display tank bottom. But it’s about 24” below the height of the display main and overflow drains.

Do you think that will still be enough gravity to keep the flow moving to the sump? There will have to be some elbows in the drain line to get from the bottom of the display up and over the sump. Hope that makes sense!

Excuse my horrible drawing to show what the drain would look like.

It's not ideal, but I suppose it would work. If you plan it well, you can avoid sharp 90-degree angles and prevent the water from slowing as much by making gentler curves with 'street' elbows.

I would really make sure that your sump can handle all the water that might flow down if your electricity cuts out. Always an important safety measure. Best wishes.

If you go as high as your drawing, you're gonna have problems starting the syphon, because water never wants to flow up hill...
Yeah my drawing isn’t great. The height of the sump is slightly higher than the bottom of the tank.

I think what I need to do is drop the platform the sump is sitting on. I’m just being lazy haha
