I'd love to have a clam... I've wrestled with it many times. Either I worry about placement or I worry about the fish I have. Currently, it's not an option as I've got a blueface angel in the display and a humu trigger in the lagoon. Both would love for me to get a clam I'm sure. :0)

I also agree it makes the tank look like a box around a clam not a reef. It is amazing but I have never really cared for clams. And for the price I remember this one going for last time I saw it for sale you can defiantly count me out. I understand it’s not imported and it’s big, but man.

I've seen that bad boy in person at ddivers restaurant! The pics make it look smaller than it looks In person. If Billy (ddiver) is lurking around I hope all is well....

I just seen 3- 12 in clams in my lfs tonight. They were awesome. I was in love .They wanted 180 for one of em. I don't know how to tell if they're healthy tho. 2 had a little gap in their mouths where you could see the inside pretty much and 1 only had a little of his colors showing.

Yes. In fact, my dream is to build a 600-1,000 gallon reef when my wife and I can afford to buy our next home, largely to hold a couple clams, a bunch of tangs, and an uncountable amount of small fish.

Would love one, but not willing to give up my Coral Beauty Angel or Melanurus wrasse. Don't want to give them an expensive dinner. If I can ever get my 20L tank setup, I'd like to try one of the "smaller" species of giant clams. Thinking Maxima or similar.

Clams are one of those “ love it or hate it “ things ina reef tank. I love having my squamosa but it’s also still small around 4 inches.

I enjoy them in other people's tanks. I like Angels too much to have one. I wonder what an emperor would do to that thing?

I just past the 11 year mark with mine. It has been a neat experience, but one that I will probably never do again. It severely limits your system. Even with 3 tanks plumbed together at over 500 gallons, it will strip your tank of essential trace elements, NO3, and PO4. Then there is the massive spawns for days at a time....

I have a Derasa that is coming up on 20 years - I think I got it in 1999. Built my 300 gal tank deeper than most because I was tired of it splashing water on the floor (was in a standard 120 gal before).
