Ahoy all, I'm not a wrasse expert by any stretch but I'm stumped by this one. I can tell its a halichoeres wrasse of some sort. Its roughly 5 inches long but the black spot towards the front of the dorsal fin has me wondering if its not a juvenile still or if that's just its adult coloration. After acclimation it hung around for a while but went into the sand when I reached into the tank to place a frag so I'll have to wait for it to come back out for more photos. I asked the vendor and they said they didn't know, it had come mislabeled. Any thoughts? The third picture is just that my camera doesn't like blue light and messes up on auto setting.

Coris caudimacula!!
Hmm, lucky I don't have any shrimp. I can't find a lot of juvenile pictures to compare them but I guess I'll figure out what to do with it later on. I'm pretty well equipped to handle halichoeres wrasse as it was sold to me as but not coris

From handling them in the LFS, Coris are pretty much the same care as Halichoeres, just often big (this species is one of the smallest available to the hobby - the other ones are Coris dorsomacula, and Coris pictoides)

Its a lucky surprise. I've got a 150g, no inverts besides snails and a couple starfish, and a sand bed. Though I do have an adorned wrasse that I hope won't get bullied too much. I did eventually want to add more halichoeres wrasse to the tank which I guess I'll have to reconsider, but its a cool fish and I think I got lucky with it.

You’ll find that species of Coris to be quite peaceful in comparison to others. I’ve mixed two adult dorsomacula (on the same aggression levels) with other wrasses even after they’ve been in. You’ll find the Adorned becomes more of an issue.
