That is a sweet set-up!!! My wife and I also recently built a new home, decided to place tank on living room wall where a triple laminate beam/steal beam intersected. Best support for the tank. Didn't feel like having it in the finished basement, would never see the tank and up and down stairs to feed the fish. Went from a 10 year old scratched up acrylic FOWLR tank to a new Red Sea Max-500 for the living room. I also got a proper area in the basement utility room to mix up RO/DI water and quarantine tanks....none of which I could have done in my 1-bedroom condo in the city. I had our plumber add the proper fittings to attach RO/DI water intake. I asked about pricing a water hook-up behind the tank so that I could drain/fill tank via pipes in the wall. Estimate was a bit high, so I went with mixing salt in a separate Brute can, and just pump it upstairs via vinyl hose....got a water change down to 45 min...not bad! It feels to good to have the right equipment and do things right so the fish/coral thrive! Keep your the great work!!!

Well, it has been a while, but I have finally found some time to get the tank moving again. Spent yesterday going through all of the boxes from the move collecting all of my random plumbing and fish equipment. Amazing how much stuff you can mass up with this hobby.

Got my 210g holding tank set up for mixing water. Will have lots of fresh salt water soon :) Trying to find a powerhead and a heater with a longer power cord!

Also plumbed the tanks drains. Went with a Bean Animal setup. Gotta keep it quiet or the wife might stab me.

Also started the control panel above the tank for the powerheads. Honestly, I am a little lost on how to make some of these cables go away. There are a ton, and they are way too long. I am running the display with (2) Tunze 6105s on SeaSweeps, (2) Neptune WAVs, and the returns are 3/4" SeaSwirls. Hopefully it will be enough random flow :) That cable mess though...just for some powerheads.

Anyway, I am hoping to forge ahead some more today. Hopefully I will have some decent updates for you soon as I am pretty tired of looking at the empty tank in the living room. Really struggling with making the rockwork look natural and avoid just piling it up. It is not helping that my wife wants more rock in the tank than I do because I want the coral to fill it in.

Got some more done in the fish room last night. Started mounting my Apex modules and unboxing all of the goodies that I purchased almost a year ago. Just a little plumbing for the drains and return pump left and I can start filling it. Possibly will order some fish this week to start in QT while the tank cycles. Maybe we can actually see pics of animals in this thread :)

Also found some of my wife's art homework from college that I thought might work pretty well with what we have going on in the basement :)

Feeling that excitement when you know you are close to getting something wrapped up. Looking forward to some more exciting updates soon.

Dude! This is so inspiring for my tank room! Can you give me some details on those shelves?

I found it just as annoying and difficult, so I purchased a cheap cabinet from target for about 30 bucks and converted it to my computer cabinet. I got lazy towards the end since I needed to have everything running again and I wasn't trying to be the usual mr.perfectionist. All the power bricks go in the lower level side back view image(front view is hidden). Not the cleanest job, but works great and is hidden once the doors are closed. You could simply create a simple box that can be mounted so all your wires are behind said box.

Rev, I am flattered :) Let me know what you need to know. I think that I might have noted the vendor on a previous page and honestly can't remember it right now. You can order everything precut for construction. I got the idea from a build thread for Synergy I think. I just went a little crazier than they did!

So here is a photo of the rock scape. Rinsing sand over the next few days and then I will start filling.
