Hello guys, ive kept snowflakes before but never one this small, illI take pics when he comes out of hiding but he is only about 5 inches long and my tailspot is a giant compared to him. Are there any tips or nutritional information i should know for small snowflakes, right now im breaking up silversides into bite sized pieces for him and he even took a few mysis i dropped in the tank (the mysis were too big for him to swallow in one go) he even went after some pellets.

I normally stay away from super small eels but a part of me likes watching them grow. Anyways like i said some tips would be great

Clam removed from the shell and pieces of shrimp would be good.

I wish i could post a video when he was at the store but sadly i can't i did get a screenshot though. Right now the night lights are on which makes the camera look very goofy but I'll post more tomorrow with the normal lights on. In the screenshot you can see that ziptie is about as thick as him

I've had an even smaller eel i had for 3 years from about 5inch long to 14, started with frozen brine shrimp that I would hold with tongs, as i defrosted he would bite them off, then i moved onto chopped up clam, squid, shrimp and so on and the pieces just got bigger... good luck

They grow super fast. It only takes about a year for them to reach about a foot. Right now i'm giving him silver sides that I tear up into tiny chunks and he'll eat frozen mysis i throw into the tank. It'll be cool to see him grow. Right now he's just in a 10 gallon as my 75 already has a full grown eel in it that would probably eat him, and it's easier to feed him this way, he'll probably move up to my 40 gallon pretty quick.

Last week I was at a LFS and they had a few tiny 6”snowflakes in a tank with a 5” niger trigger. When one of the eels was swimming up the corner of the tank the trigger took a chunk out of the eel’s back. What a bummer to witness. I hope they moved trigger before anymore eels met the same fate.
