He wuz up fellow reefers need help! I ran into a hitchhiker problem zoanthid eating nudibranch
was wondering if theres anythig i can do to ger rid of them

You're going to need to dip the rocks/corals as you see them most likely.

Dip with Soda water, They will shoot out of the rock lol .

I don't think soda water will do much for zoanthid eating nudi's.
I do know that dipping all frags in Flat Worm Exit at 4x the recommended doseage with kill them in seconds.
You can even dose the whole tank, but I'd remove all hermits and snails.
I did have a problem and this treatment worked perfect.

works the best just dose the whole tank they 3-4 days dose again i pour the whole bottle in my 125 have no seem they again they melt away and its cool to watch them die too

my wrasses, both green and yellow, have showed marginal success. My buddy has a melonaurus(sp?) and again, it's always picking at stuff, but have still discovered a few nudi's under it's watch.

Dipping with revive has worked very well, and zoas seem to enjoy the dips (I use revive dips as a tonic for any zoa not looking super hot, seems to perk them up) which is a nice side effect. I've never used the flatworm exit, so not comparing against it. I do know revive kills the nudi's FAST-within a few seconds you can see flatworms and nudis falling off the rock. However, just like everything, it won't kill the eggs, so you'll need to do a few repeat dips, every 4-5 days apart.

I'll admit I don't see the nudi's disolve, more like a nueral paralysis-this is what it does to all inverts i've dropped in it from baby brittle stars (on accident, they're entwined in the zoa colonies) to flatworms, nudi's, heck even a large (and I mean 2 inch from back to nose) decorator crab that was hiding on a zoa rock recently purchased from a LFS. I typically use the recommended dosage, though I often overdose but not by any measured amount (at most maybe a double dosage), and I do leave zoas in the dip for a long time, say up to half an hour if not longer.

Well, if I ever do have this problem again, I will try ReVive again, for the main reason,,,, it's a ton cheaper than FWE.

When I do bring in new frags, I do a FWE dip and a ReVive dip, just as a preventaive.

Some of my local friends swear by Coral RX too.

I do have to question one thing in that link. He said he recommends 40 drops of Lugols per gallon, in a freshawater dip? WOW, that is alot.
It is recommended to use 40 drops in saltwater on the label, but in my experince using more than 10-11 drops per gallon in freshwater is pretty harsh.
I've had a few people tell me that using 12 drops per gallon killed their frags.

it really depends on the coral for the lugols quantity, I regularly dip zoas, acans, and other fleshy corals (LPSs and the such) in MUCH higher concentrations of lugols-say 40-100 drops per quart.
SPSs seem to react much differently though, and without much playing around, I just don't do SPS's in lugols, or at least not in high dosage.

I've yet to see good results from FW dips though, so I avoid them for pretty much everything-I've seen them work on killing pests a few times, but they tend to kill 95percent of the coral as well which I don't consider a succesful dip :cry:

Yeah, I've done major lugols dips in saltwater, but what I was questioning is the lugols doseage in freshwater that the article mentioned.


Freshwater dips on zoanthids is a pretty common and a safe thing.
