Got this head of tank cultured ‘bicolour hammer’ from a home based coral aquaculture guy. I swear it has tips like a hammer but they’re small, thin and are so long? Like 1-2 inches long. Anyone have a hammer like this? Its like a hammer had fun with torch lol. It does not open and sway like my...
I know this question gets asked a lot. I’ve searched the threads. Looking for a more specific answer.
what is going on with this guy? I just lost 1 hammer yesterday - I think he was stung by my mushroom - so I moved the shroom. He was living right below this guy. However this guy has looked...
Does anyone have a yellow branching hammer for sale like the one in the picture below or know of a store where I can find one?
I'm not looking for golden hammers but yellow sometimes called highlighter yellow.

Hi just noticed this little stuff on my hammer's skeleton, at first I thought it's some worm and tried to wipe it off but it's something hard that doesn't come off. Any idea what this may be ?
Hello hobbyists!
My young clown has decided to move from the rock corner he was living in to the beloved large walling hammer colony. He’s not being rough with it, but if he smacks his head into a polyp the one polyp will retract a bit. currently the hammer is happy and open.
has anyone...
I really enjoy hammer corals, but for some reason they seem to be the only coral (outside of SPS experimentation) I’ve had troubles with since starting my first reef endeavor 10 months ago.
Parameters have been good enough to keep everything else happy, but for some reason I’m now on my 2nd...
I’m attaching 2 videos of my hammer coral I have had for a week. One side looks good and fluffy while the other side is showing skeleton. I’m wondering about your opinion on my flow? I thought this coral was starting to split when I picked it up, but also I’m pretty new. Any advIce is appreciated!
Everything else in tank is doing well - params where they should be and 2 hammers and a frogspawn right beside this guy all doing well.
Still comes out fine during the day, but right around 9pm every night he looks like this. My first instict is maybe a fish is eating the tops off these, but I...
I purchased this toxic splatter a while back and it was doing just fine at first. Now it isn’t opening. I recently got a Nero 3 but it’s nowhere near my LPS and it’s running at 50% pulse. I tried turning it off and it didn’t make a difference. These are before and after pics and these are my...
I recently moved my hammer corals since I change my aquascape (about 2 weeks ago), I moved my hammers lower so that they don’t get blasted with flow. Now they don’t seem to open up as much as they used to.
I had a branching hammer retract, bleach and was pretty bad off. It looked moments away from death. It didn't extend at all for almost a week, when It extended slightly It was bleached on every head. It had 3 heads. Woke up one day and one head had BJD. In a panic I ordered some cipro online...
Awoke this morning to a sight that I was not expecting. Over five heads had ejected polyps over night with two more head visibly showing the ever dreaded brown jelly. The colony is over 10yo and I’ve never had the courage to frag it.
Today, I jumped in, hoping I wouldn’t loose the entire thing...
Are these vermatids snails on my hammer coral?
i recently found one on a candy cane and immediately superglued the tube.
this was about a week ago. Today I saw these little growths on the base of my hammer. Was hoping I was quick enough on stopping an outbreak but now I’m getting worried and...
Hey everyone,
So I started out in the reef hobby very careless as I wasn’t too sure if I’d enjoy it and I tried to do this on a budget. Fast forward 8 months in, I never quarantined anything, fish or corals. I had a ich breakout and I really enjoy the hobby so I want to do it right this time...
Just trying to start a discussion! I’ll begin
It took almost 2 weeks for me to find a spot where my hammer coral and Florida ricordea were happy. Then it took another week trying to figure out how strong to set my powerheads. Things have been going well for a bit now.
just added a few more CUC...
Had this hammer for a few months now and when it opens up it opens really wide and the polyps sometimes are really skinny? Is it too much flow? I have some higher phosphates at the moment could that be the cause?
It can get even more open and stretched out then in the photo. Thanks in advance
Hey Guys,
I have a green wall hammer that’s been in my tank for about 5 months, and has been doing great.
last night after lights went out and it closed up I noticed a white growth on one side and have no idea what it could be.
the coral opens, is really puffy and happy looking so I don’t...
Just got it 2 days ago. Yesterday it was fully opened and seemed to be doing okay, but since this morning it is been like this and is expelling this long almost clear looking stringy substance. Is there anything to worry about?
