For the last 8 years I have been wanting to setup a saltwater tank. My wife went out and bought my boys a 2 gallon gold fish tank about 3 weeks ago. That sparked the interest all over again. Last friday I went and bought a 55 gallon tank and set it up doing freshwater. I was going to change it over to saltwater when we move in September. I quickly noticed that it wasn't big enough for me at all. So I jumped on craigslist and started looking at all the tanks for sale. I came across a 100 gallon complete setup for $500. I offered $250 and they took it. System has been down for 2 years and they didn't clean it up at all. Needs some TLC.

OVERHAUL PROJECT:

I am going to re-silicone the tank.
Put a new floor in the base.
Paint the base and hood.
Build a refugium sump.
New Plumping.

Here are pictures of how it sits now.

Update Time

Last night I pulled up all the damaged wood off the floor.

I got a friend to lend a helping hand on lifting the tank and putting it on the stand. I hooked up the drain and return lines to the sump. Turned on the return pump and it is no good. Hooked another one up and its good. We filled the tank up with water to sit for a day to soften up all the salt and whatever else is in there so it will be easier to clean. As we start to put water into the tank I quickly noticed to pieces of glass. One of the T5 bulbs is missing... So I am guessing the glass is from that bulb. Tank holds water!!! That a plus in my book but, The tank is getting cleaned and then re-siliconed. Here is a picture of it as it sits.

Thanks for checking out my tank build.

UPDATE TIME:

I got started on framing out the stand today. I plain on doing some more tomorrow. I have found two different stands on youtube that I like. So I am taking them both putting them together and putting my own twist on it.
