Due to moving to a new and much larger house I decided to upgrade my 60g cube to a 180g reef-ready.
Got a 90g custom acrylic sump. 1.5 inch overflow pipe and 1 inch return pipes fed by dual return pumps. One Neptune Cor 20 and one Sicce DC pump until I can afford a second Cor 20. I’ve got roughly a 40g section for a refugium and live rock.
Lighting it is three Viparspectras mounted to a custom rack made from extruded aluminum and hung by steel cable.
I made the custom rock structures with mostly Marco Rock with CA glue, hydraulic cement and fiberglass rods.
Moved the livestock over around a week ago and everything appears to be doing well. Parameters seem to be holding well and no signs of ammonia or nitrite.
For flow I’ve got one 4k Maxspect gyre and a second 2k gyre on opposite sides and with the massive turnover from the dual return pumps that seems to be doing the trick.
Now I’ve just got to work on acquiring more coral. I’m very happy with how this build has turned out. Let me know if you’ve got any questions or feedback. I’m happy to share details and more images or video.
