I've had a 40b running for the past 2 years and things have started to become pretty cramped, so it was either re-scape and prune, or option 2, bigger tank. We all know to pick option 2. Found a steal on amazon on an 80 rimless. It took 3 tries to get it shipped to me without breaking it, but finally after 6 months it arrived.

Plan for this build is still kessil/t5 combo and I am using most of the equipment from my 40 since it was oversized anyway and I will make changes if needed.

And it begins.....

Just a basic 1x4 skeleton that I will cover up with whatever the wife wants, since that's part of the deal.

Made a quick and dirty swap to the new tank. Has that "industrial" look going haha!

Hung some old retro t5 and my a160 from a super custy light rack

So now it sits, waiting to be skinned in, electronics organized, floating canopy, sump organization, some coral placement, etc, etc, etc.......

Everything except my yellow tang. Not sure what happened, after the move it had a couple big sores on its side and it appeared unable to see. After a week or so of just slowly swimming around, bumping into everything, and not eating I removed it. I don't know if it was laying against a hammer coral or something else stinging during the move that caused it.

Finished the floating canopy so I can get rid of the science project light rack. Currently it has two 36" retro t5 and two Kessial a160. I am planning on adding another a160 or possibly waiting for the a360x to come out.

Getting it all assembled:

Stained and varnished:

T5s installed:

Put in the rest of the lighting equipment:

Shelf up so I have something to hang it from:

It hangs!:

Third A160 put into place

Got the sump somewhat organized with all the equipment online. Have 2 part dosing up and running since Kalkwasser wasn't keeping up. Also made a little frag section in the middle chamber. UV plumbed in, but I think I will be adding a chaeto reactor inline with it as well.

And finally, the skin is in!
