Adding live sand after the fact

I have a mated oscillaris/maroon pair. I've put them in a barebottom tank and I walked into the room and saw the maroon flirting with his reflection. This isn't good, I can't have him realizing he's a maroon otherwise he may stop mating with the female oscillaris or even worse, turn into a female and kill the oscillaris.
I want to add a bag of sand to the bottom, can I do it without removing thefish? If so how?

Interesting theory on your clownfish's mental processing, lol. I would add dry sand, you can use a pvc pipe with a funnel on the top, that has worked for me before. I have also used a cup to lower the sand down to the bottom. In both instances, the tank still got a bit cloudy but that isn't a big deal...the fish will be just fine. :)

PVC pipe with a funnel!!! thats brilliant, i used the cup method, and it worked great, but the pvc pipe sounds much faster and less messy.

to the OP, yes, it wont hurt anything in the tank, but it will get cloudy, maybe just a little, maybe alot, to help, cut down your flow by turning off any powerheads in the tank, and run your skimmer a littlle more wet than normal and it should clear up fine.
