Hey @vetteguy53081 could you help me with a hair algae problem?

Recently my tank is starting having excessive amount of hair allergy growth.
Not sure why this is happening.
Nitrate is 10 and phosphate is 0.06.

What do you recommend?
Any cleanup crews or something that I can dose to kill it?

Thank you!
Same applies-
Is your tank at or near a window?
Are you adding Any Tap water to the tank?
Is your tank at or near a window and getting indirect sunlight?

Please post pics of your tank under white light intensity

Honestly for me reduce your nitrates. Maybe even use this Blue Life RX Flux Here
I would not as you will end up with dino and other issues. and flux is an alternative and not a solution in many cases

Ik that’s what I thought.

I have a yellow tang and a hippo blue.
Can you add a foxface fish? They are amazing algae eaters.

I personally have a desjardini tang that completely eradicated all my derbesia hair algae. I’m currently looking for a home for it.

Sadly I don’t have any more space for fish!

How many times a day do you feed your fish? Sometimes you need to limit food to encourage a fish to consume algae from the tank. The yellow tang has a lot of potential to eat the that hair algae.

Lights seem bright. Lower intensity a little. As for GHA which is heavy, seeing no coral on the rocks, I would place it in a container of tank water and pull off as much as you can by hand and scrub the rest with a firm toothbrush and some 3% hydrogen peroxide.
Return to tank, reduce white light intensity and number of hours of white lighting and add some snails such as :
Astrea
cerith
turbo grazer
trochus

A Pencil urchin

8-10 Caribbean blue leg hermits

@vetteguy53081 do you know if I could put two wrasses into a tank together? I want too put a melanurus in with my marble. I'm afraid the tank will get overstocked or they will just fight. 2 clownfish a royal gramma starry blenny coral beauty marble wrasse. I am going to add a white tail bristletooth which will make 7 and maybe a melanurus if you think it's a good idea.

Good to see youngsters interested in the hobby! I've had fish tanks on and off just about my entire life. I'm ANCHIENT now as my birth year starts with a 1, and the second number isnt a 9 :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Been salty for 8 years now, love every minute of it. Tons of good people here who are more than willing to help with advice, just reach out and ask.

Just commenting on the urchins here - pincushion/tuxedo would probably be a better choice than pencil urchin; the most common pencil urchin species I've seen in the hobby (Eucidaris tribuloides) is known to eat corals (and sometimes inverts):

I feed my tank one time per day.
The yellow tang is still a baby and is a little picky with food. She only really eats Nori. I hope she starts eating the algae soon.

You realize that makes your birth year 1899 or before….don’t know too many 125+ year olds on the interwebs these days!

Lights are bright there because I turned them up to 100% white light for the pictures.
I have been manually removing it. I will give the tooth brush a try. When scrubbing the algae will it irritate corals and make more of a mess?
I have 2 Red Sea 90 leds. Blue light 70% and white light 10%. Is that too much? I have it like that for corals.
I will order some snails and urchins now.
Will the urchin hurt corals?
Thanks

So I should get a tuxedo instead of a pencil?
