The other day I bought a scoly from my lfs in attempt to save it. It had algae growing from around its mouth and out rim. thought I may have a better chance at saving it then in a fish store. so far It hasn't opened to feed at all. I have placed food on its mouth in attempt to pen it up and get no response. I have also dosed some calcium. my specs are all good. It on the bottom of my tank under LEDs and in moderate flow. any tips would help greatly.

I helped a coral very similar to this. I did a CoralRX dip and kept it in LOW light LOW flow for a few days. Redipped it a week later. It is fat and happy now

You can see the thread I started on this here https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/general-lps-discussion/86710-scoly-advice.html

Please post a picture of it so we can have a better understanding of what is going on.

also I wouldnt try to change any of your levels in your tank. it needs as stable environment now

I'm reviving a scoly myself as we speak. I have it in indirct low light, almost no flow. To entice it to feed I added some oysterfeast, and articpods with some mysis. It has now eaten several large pieces of mysis and starting to improve. Good luck

It looks a lot better today already the mouth is puffed up and covering most of the algae that was growing in it.

I moved it to a low light area of the tank and target fed it with oyster feast and mysis. the mouth didn't open but the next day it looked a lot healthier. That being said I've realized its not a scoly it's an open brain. It is puffed out the most its been today, and looks very nice it is almost touching the sand

Very nice that it is continuing to improve, look foward to seeing pictures of this open brain.
