Best glass scraper thoughts?

I have the same... love the dual blades and strong magnet on the .75" glass.

BUT, have you tried this!?

The combo of Fritz's smooth coating and the MAX is like butter!

That glass spray does work good. It makes the glass slippery.

For the tough stuff it's hard to beat the 4D ceramic blades. I use the plastic blades for the soft stuff if I keep up on the glass cleaning and if I don't clean my tank for awhile (seems to happen lots lately) I then use the ceramic blades because the plastic ones won't get the stuff off.

This with the additional metal blade, the plastic blade is difficult to use.

I would use gift cards or old credit cards and it worked OK. The hard stuff needed some real pressure and work to get out.

I saw your pose and ordered the metal blade. It arrived today and my tank has never been cleaner. Game changer for sure thank you.

I will use this one and try to maintain with the tunze.

Blue Dot Octopus recommended the stainless steel blade for the flipper hand scraper which i already had. I would use gift cards or old credit cards. The stainless steel blade cut through everything like butter.

I'm going to use this every so often and try to maintain with the tunze.

My biggest regret in my current tank is starting with one of the magnet scrapers that has the scouring pad. I put two nice scratches in the glass and then switched to Tunze. Should’ve started with Tunze from the outset.

My glass is 1/2” and what I found works really well is I bought two - one regular and one strong. I swapped the dry sides so now each set has a regular and a strong magnet. I keep one with plastic blades and one with metal. The plastic is my go to 90% of the time and I use the metal occasionally for stubborn spots and because it reaches into corners a bit better.

With the plastic blade I think the risk of a scratch is close to zero. The metal is pretty safe too (on glass) but seems like a slightly higher risk than the plastic.

An old, expired credit card. Works great. Haven't noticed any scratching the glass. Gets rid of coralline algae. The rounded corners are nice for bow front aquariums. And, they're free!!!

I like the Aqua Blade! Swapping between metal and plastic is pretty nice, it's not a magnet cleaner, but the edges of the metal are rounded so it makes me THINK there is less chance for scratches (whether or not it actually is the case)

Looks like I need to look into a Tunze algae scraper. :)
I also have 3/4 inch glass so I guess I need the strong magnet.

I've used mag floats for many years, but if this works better to scrape the glass clean then I'm all for trying it.

I tried to copy one made by Paul b but found that the angle is very important. One day found this on Amazon it is the best kept secret and either is Paul's or Plagiarized

I use the Sand Shark and love it. I had the Great White Shark version and it was so strong I could barely move it.....and my glass is like .75 in thick. That thing was bonkers strong.

I love my Tunze nano care magnet and my fritz glass cleaner with a microfiber cloth. For the back wall I have a generic razor scraper but I haven't used it yet. I've used Magfloats and another brand I can't remember the name of but they aren't my favorite, either they didn't do a very good job or they were anxiety inducing to use near the sand :grinning-face-with-sweat: Those were also on fw which doesn't have to contend with algae quite as strong as coralline

I like the tunze. Because it doesn't have a scouring pad that rests on the glass, it's less likely to get a chunk of sand caught in it.

I use a Tunze Strong (w/floats) on 5/8th glass with the stainless blade all the time. Price is an ouch, performance is wonderful. At first I tried without the stainless blade and the performance versus price was not what I had hoped, good, but not spectacular. Got brave, put on the stainless blade, tried it out and shortly thereafter ordered replacement stainless blades with no going back to other glass scrapers forever. Tunze knocked it out of the ball park with the large ones. Now the small ones? They are nice, but lack floats and a stainless blade, so now and then I go get my large one for my smaller tank, works fine.

The only other scrappers I have seen have aluminum blades witch bend and have waves in them . Completely useless. I have a collection, and should start a museum of scrappers scrubbers ect the cleaner I showed uses razor blades and gets the hardest algae off although I don't scrape of coralline. Wondering why you would I was always of the understanding it was hugely beneficial.
