I use a 3-4 inch plastic putty knife (on glass) from Home Depot. When it get’s dull or roughed up, I buy another. We are talking several dollars for a set of three sizes. For coraline I use a stainless steel scaper with a short handle. Also, you would be amazed at how well a credit card works. What do folks think are the best glass scrapers these days (1/2" glass)?
I must say...ive always used a razor blade but bought a tunze strong plus a couple weeks ago. Love it!This is one of the greatest moments in reefing history where we all agree on something.
+You guys with 3/4" thick glass, are you using the Tunze strong or the Tunze strong+? I want to buy this once and cry once, haha.
Is the algae free a tunze product also. I only want to buy this thing once. Can’t afford a mistake at this price.Tunze care inside with algae free outside. Easily the best combo I’ve ever used. Chews through everything and the two together are better than either the Tunze alone or the algae free alone.
No it’s made by Algae Free https://www.algaefree.com/Is the algae free a tunze product also. I only want to buy this thing once. Can’t afford a mistake at this price.
I like this brand - may be able to get away with a smaller magnet version (this ons is for glass up to 1 in thick. (Flipper Max)What do folks think are the best glass scrapers these days (1/2" glass)?
I use a Strong+ with an Algae Free Tiger Shark outside. The strong does work, but it isn’t great on the hard stuff. You guys with 3/4" thick glass, are you using the Tunze strong or the Tunze strong+? I want to buy this once and cry once, haha.
Thanks will have to look at the Tunze for sure amazing a whet stone fits on it. Yes I have to or just do change the blade every cleaning. But since I got on top of it I don't have to as oftenI have the Tunze with metal blade but I find that even a new blade is way to dull to clean the glass like I want it. so I bought a wet stone from Amazon 400 grit one side 1000 grit on the other side. I remove blade, soak wet stone in warm water for 15 minutes then work both edges of one side of blade for 5/10 minutes, then flip around and do the other side. If you never used a wet stone recommend watching a couple of Utube videos. The difference between a Dull and sharp blade is amazing. I get about 3 cleaning sessions per side of blade before changing out the blade to a new sharp one. Haven’t had to buy a new three pack of blades in over three years
Again- Tunze Care. But reading the comments, folks need to order the correct sized scraper for their application. I have a Desert Eagle, but I don’t expect to keep it under my seat of my car. What do folks think are the best glass scrapers these days (1/2" glass)?

Hey Kyle. Do you still like the scraper? I have a 230 gallon tank and the magnetic just doesn't work without great frustration. I'm just leary of it being an issue with the silicone. Appreciate your input!Yofoths is the single best scraper I've ever used. It's a freaking tank and puts up with tons of abuse. Plus it's only ten bucks.
