Hello all,hope all is well.
Went to an lfs yesterday and seen this super large " acanthylia" I think it's called,I know not spelling it quite right but can't read name on blue picture so well ,will try get name,or maybe atoll can tell the true name,it was like 30 cm across, 20 cm high and was a beast, courtesy is courtesy of @atoll as I didn't take any pictures.
But just got me thinking how often do they come for sake at this size and/ or if fellow reefers managed to grow them this large in their tanks,as at £ 1450.00 I wont be trying one of these anytime soon ha ha

So what's your biggest lps or even an coral ?

Yes it looks like it’s a acanthopyllia, which I often hear called meat corals (which I believe includes other types, but I’m not very familiar with them). I see them for sale pretty often at stores, but I’ve never bought one because they're expensive.

ETA- I just converted that into US currency and they’re not that expensive here. I usually see them in the $500-$1000 range depending on color and size.

Nice lps corals,I like the look of the bubble corals but they look super delicate, speaking of delicate, had 3 torches so far and one lasted longest was 3 months or so,so tank just over year old so going be laying off them for quite some time yet before try again, maybe try a hammer or frogspawn as they look cool and read can be little easier, seen your tank and you have some beautiful corals

Yeah some the smaller ones I see at £ 250 upwards but this £ 1450.00 one was the size of a football - maybe even close to basketball size ( as in football I mean what Americans call a soccer ball )
But guess price goes on size colours and it says " ultra" in name so that add £ 500 maybe ha ha

I’m not used to seeing large corals at the LFS anymore. It used to be quite common to buy true large colonies at the LFS. However, I’ve seen quite large pieces in the home aquarium. My biggest piece is a 7 inch brain or softball size hammer colony

Just realised not shared mine which isn't big, great or anything but anyhow it's a lobo at 3 inches ha ha

My coral that's grown fastest and took up most real estate has got to be my 2 head nuclear green paly I believe they called and in 9 months gone from 2-21 heads ( they on seperate rock with some zoas .

Just bought 6 corals yesterday with one being a little 5 head bright red acan but my bi colour blennie I've seen nibbling it ,and Skelton sticking out of flesh all over, hopefully does ok as settles in.
And need decide whether keep this blennie as new was with caution when added and see him nipping/ zoas/sps and now acan but catching him is all different ball game ha ha

Bet yours grow super fast then if trade them regulary.
What surprised me is mine actually moved slightly on there own.the original 2 polyps have moved like 2- 3 inch from where they originally was on the frag plug to completely cone off plug and slowly keep moving lol

How did your corals get on from your build thread 1st April, the torches in particular ,they still doing great I hope ?
They’re all doing good. I had a few SPS from that ordered that didn’t survive the shipping/dip but everything else is doing good. Ironically it was the cheapest torch that I like the most.
