be prepared 3 5 gallons with just airline light bubbles no micro , use a shot glass to switch fry never let them get air ,from5 to 5 to 5 every 24 hrs water will high in toxin from amount of foot nessasary so now you have 2 brew bbs going 24 hrs apart ,and rotating 3 5 gallons every day
Seems like a lot of work

For pipefish fry your going to need copepods and lots of them. If you go to the Marine Breeding Initiative website/forum they have breeding logs on a couple different pipe species. Very informative and fascinating to read.
Yeah, I've read Jim Welsh's breeding log. Pretty cool

I'd feed a fair bit, at least for Erectus their fry are not good swimmers so I tried to make sure it was a target rich environment as far as all of them finding food, this in turn meant more maintenance though to keep the water quality good so it is a careful balance. And yes you need to make sure you decapsulate brine shrimp. It can seem a bit scary using bleach to do it but as long as you have a good dechlorinator it's not too difficult and the risk to the fry is low. We're all just very paranoid about bleach and our tanks for good reason!

I’m not down with the fry just to involved and no guarantee that any will make it. Could get sucked into the filter, other tank inhabitants might eat them, and really mess up ur water. Been thru one time enough for me I mean one to three maybe four is ok But this cloud of dry was ridiculous

Check out the instructions for decapsulating your brine shrimp eggs here at Seahorse.com.

The process uses bleach but improves the nutritional value of the BBS since they spend less energy hatching, improves water quality by removing the waste the shells introduce, and prevents the new fry from accidentally ingesting the shell, which they can't digest and can cause a blockage killing them.

It's not totally required but raising the fry is already going to be a difficult job, anything you can do to improve your odds is likely a good thing.

For Paulie, yeah seahorses have *a lot* of fry all at once. Years ago I had a male that was having babies every 15 days, like clockwork for close to 5 months. He was so regular that in the evening of the 15th day I would pull him out put him in my fry tank at night and then pull him out in the morning and put him back into the display tank since he birthed all 100+ fry overnight, by the end I stopped even trying to gauge how close he was, it was every 15 days, none stop. I had so many fry at the end that I was giving entire batches away to other hobbyists interested in trying to raise them and even approached the National Aquarium to see if they were interested at all. (They were not)

Came home this afternoon to find this:

I'm gonna try to raise them. My tank is at 80 degrees, so they should hatch in three nights.
This is awesome!! Good luck and awesome of you for willing to rear. Looking forward to updates for sure on this one!!

I took a video, but for some reason it won't show up in my files when I try to put it here even though I downloaded it. It's not too exciting. Basically, one moment you see an adult pipefish, and the next you see an adult and a tiny pipefish that came out of nowhere.

I caught several pipefish fry and put them in a 5 gallon tank. I'm feeding brine nauplii and am working on a copepod culture. They look good so far.

They're around 5 millimeters long, which is surprisingly big. They're pretty easy to see.
