I think my one clown fish might have Brooke. I’m not quite sure how she would’ve got it as nothing has been added to the tank for a couple months. However, she looks extremely pale and is lethargic. She’s still coming up to eat, but you can tell it wears her out and she’s gotta go lay down and rest.

This all happened is less than 24 hours. Yesterday at lunch time, she was normal.

Need Pics under Bright White light intensity as it is hard to see body. If brook, you will see loss of color, appetite and mucus buildup on body. Additionally elevated breathing rate, lethargic behavior and even mopey behavior.
Try video again under Bright white light which may display fish better

I actually have my kessil turned up to 100% white but she is resting under the filter. I will try to pull her out for a FW dip and get a better picture then.

@vetteguy53081

Seeing loss of color and lethargy but appetite is still good. I am assuming the lost of color would be related to the slime coat build up, but I have no idea.

Background on the fish.
I haven had her since July. She is a 10g mixed reef with a male clownfish. No other livestock (corals, fish, inverts, etc) has been added to the tank for the last 2 months.

Ok. I will assume brook then. Since my QT tank as my new fox face in it, I will run out and get a quick fix set up from Walmart and start Quick Cure tonight.

Best treatment that is reef safe is Ruby rally pro as formalin is more risky with handling and you can treat in-tank however separate tank is best

Well, something is going on. She is completely back to normal in the span of two hours. Color and everything is back to normal.

I have everything on hand in case I want to proceed with isolation of the quarantine tank and going fallow.

Is it possible she got stressed out for some reason and lost her color and now she feels better?

Is the clownfish feeding normally?

Detecting Brooklynella visually on mostly white clownfish is difficult. In the video, the clown is/was breathing very fast. If you see that with white mucus, as well as rapid breathing and stilted swimming, that usually points to brook. Rapid breathing by itself is more often Amyloodinium/velvet.

I can't account for the sudden improvement after the formalin dip - dips don't really work that fast or that completely. Watch for a relapse and make sure it isn't still breathing too fast (anything over about 80 gill beats per minute is too fast, and over 100 is serious).

I will keep an eye on breathing but I did not even get to the meds. The only dip I got to do was freshwater.

Her breathing has drastically dropped and is no where near as fast as it was.

Could it just have been stress?

Could be, but there has to be some cause of the stress....anything changed with the tank?

Besides chasing it to get it out for the dip:) sorry - to the OP - it was a joke - I think this could just be coloration due to pairing or pair stress. Even known clown pairs sometimes attack their mates - and we dont always see it. Of course - that doesn't explain the whole issue you're describing - please post an update

She has been fine. No signs now. As far as changes, no new livestock. I did my weekly water change on Monday. I did start some Microbacter 7.
I do feel like my filter needs a deep cleaning. I am actually getting a new one that was supposed to be a week ago but it is still in usps land.
