Cloudy eyes??

I got a yellow corris wrasse, 2.5 ish weeks ago. Went on vacation. And came back to it like this. Going to do a water change. But what else can I do ?

It’s laying on the floor. Mouth is moving and it’s “breathing” but not well.

Ammonia .25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0

LFS just had us start poly lab reef medic last night

Feeding the tank pellets and thawed rotifer cubes.

Tank is 7 months old

Could be flukes. I would try a FW dip to confirm. If so Prazi could be used to eradicate the parasites

If one eye,likely injury as with flukes, other fish would be affected and have symptoms such as heavy breathing, loss of appetite, scratching as examples
Is fish swimming or laying entire time?

It’s both eyes that are cloudy. I think it’s having problems breathing and swimming. No other fish affected. (Clowns, Benny, goby / shrimp).

When I see it it’s laying only. It’s almost upside down now.

Freshwater dip?

Is this pure RO water or tap with conditioner ?

Forget FW dip which is stressful and not a fl

This is not a Fluke issue
Fish is thin and May have the symptoms of UNWND which is neurological and affects these fish which is showing the symptoms and untreatable

Agree with @vetteguy - does it still attempt to eat - if so it may very will be the neurologic disease? Or does it just lay on the bottom - the laying on the bottom if its persistent suggests a moribund/dying condition. Do you quarantine your fish with anything? I would consider treating for flukes and consider treating with copper (in a hospital tank) - if it's not trying to eat - and the breathing issue persists. Additionally - watch your other fish closely - as if it is flukes or another disease (not the neurologic diseases - but velvet etc) - they will need treatments as well

It’s been laying like this for at least a week. Not swimming :/ ( checked in with the person who watched my tanks/ home).

I did not quarantine. I have gotten all my fish from the same place who they do quarantine already from what they told me. First salt water tank. So still new to this.

I went to feed and it’s not moving toward anything. It’s mouth is opening but it’s more like trying to breathe. I’m not sure if it will be able to be saved. I’m really worried about the potential for other fish getting sick.

What else should I do for the tank? I’m on dose two of the reef medic salt.

With UNWND, Many of these type of wrasses courtesy Of Jay encounter UNWD which shows neurological symptoms where it either cannot swim well, swims tail down or swims with a bent spine and despite all this, the wrasse will still attempt to feed and display no damage such as crashing into objects. Other could be depending where fish is from, cyanide capture which is delayed but the fish ends up in this state

If it is the wrasse disease - it will not be contagious. Does it attempt to eat - which makes the virus likely. The fact that it hasn't changed in a week makes disease (except perhaps flukes) less likely as well. I would try to make an assessment of the breathing - if it is indeed breathing hard - vs trying to get to the food - I would consider copper/prazipro. in a hospital tank. (for all of the fish). Unless you can get a clear answer that the LFS did an adequate quarantine

Tough to see through the algae (grin) but with two cloudy eyes and rapid breathing, I'd suspect flukes. However, once a fish goes down like this, a FW dip will likely push it over the edge. If you do a dip and the fish survives and then improves the next day, you can pretty much confirm flukes. Then you'll need to treat the whole tank with praziquantel.

It completely has stopped moving and has passed.

I’m assuming the grin for algae is bad. I’ve tried cleaning it off and physically cannot get it off. The green scrub pads, razor blade and magic eraser. Snails. Nothing gets it off. Not sure what else to try for it.

No other fish is affected from what I can tell

Sorry to hear.

The grin was just that it was tough to see through the algae to see the fish. I used green pads and razors on my office tank and all I did was manage to scratch the glass up.....
