So I have a system that hasn’t been terribly stable. Huge battle with Dino’s due to the most common reasons but I mostly have that under control. Of course once I nipped that with UV my nutrients have been so low that I got cyano.
I’m feeding frozen incredibly heavy but I was so in the thick of managing Dino’s I compulsively clean my socks everyday. Still haven’t found a good balance yet but I’m testing N and P mostly daily and dosing for that.
I have a couple of montis and a new birdsnest that have no problem showing me that they are starving. Full polyp extension and signs of growth but incredibly pale.
My question is once and if I find a good nutrient balance should they start coloring back up? Do they show typically a positive response just as fast as they can react negatively?

Not enough information to answer this. Can you post parameters? Maybe some pictures of the corals you are talking about. The reason might be your nutrient levels, but a lot of other factors might contribute to this. Will take them longer to get their colour back than losing them. What about your lighting and flow in the tank? How long is your system running? Volume?

Have you already tried spotfeeding the corals to provide them with food and get your overall nitrates up ?

Short answer is, not as quickly as their decline was.
