Coral ID

Hi team just got a new coral from the LFS. I can't quite remember what the owner said it was just that low light requirements.

Maybe a closed mushroom or chalice. I think it’s a ricordea mushroom. If so then they are hardy and easy corals that like the middle to lower section of the tank.

Wasn't that because the mushrooms were in a different section and I got those too. I also got a blasto and acan. Could it be a lobo?

I don't know the exact genus, but it is either in the family merulinidae or lobophylliidae.

No, they do. Micromussas (acans) have fine spikes and pointy bumps in their flesh.

This coral on the other hand, this coral has larger and flatter bumps.

Micromussas also have a fleshier mantle.

I'm not arguing, but I actually don't see the differences you mention... To me, the coral you posted looks very similar to the OP's besides the color.
What if the OP's coral isn't fully inflated? Wouldn't that make a difference in its appearance?

If OP’s coral was a micromussa and was deflated/closed up, you would be able to see the septal spikes in the flesh.

The shape of the corallite is different, too. Micromussas have a more oval corallite shape which dips in to the oral disk, while this coral has a round and flat corallite.

See, I'm even more confused... In your previous post, you had a photo of a single polyp and here you have a colony...

As I've said before, I think I get more lost the more information I get, lolol!

(and for what it's worth, I can see "an oval corallite shape which dips in to the oral disk" in the OPs picture... Even more reason for me to leave coral ID to others ;) )
