so i tried to collect all the beneficial stuff out of my dads tank (turbos, stomatellas, amphipods)

i found ALOT of these weird lil bugs..

and as i was collecting amphipods i came across a black one, is this a pod or some kind of baby crustacean?

The little guys in the last picture are the same As I have in my tank. I thought they were some type of mantis shrimp babies, but I don't know for sure. So I will be following along with this one.

Pic 2, definitely amphipods. most are harmless, some feed on copes, some worse but the really nasty ones don't show up often in our tanks.

Pic 1, don't know but I've seen a couple in my tank (assuming they have shells as it looks in the pic and those aren't patterned slugs... if slugs, then nuke) and they haven't caused any harm...

Pic 2, definitely a pod.. notice how its exactly the same as the yellow one. There are different species, and I'm sure even within species there's some color variation, especially at different stages leading up to molt etc.

lol yea but i couldnt be for sure... um yea they have lil shells and when you screw with them they roll up into a lil ball...

those unidentified look almost like Natatolana woodjonesim, Anilocra frontalis, or Ceratothoa steindachneri. just a few i would look real close as some are not good to have.

i dont believe it is any of those but i cant be for sure, are some of those parasites?

yes some are and some are not.

last pic-both are amphipods maybe the reason they are different colours is because one is pre-moult or post moult

other pics look like isopods, hopefully sphaeromatidae family and not a parasitic sp.
