Dendronephthya & Scleronephthya aquaculture

The larger one is big and really nice.
I’ve noticed with mine, they prefer meaty foods. Clams seem to be one of the best. And I get crazy PE on one colony. The tentacles must stick out nearly 2”.

Tentacles are looong. On my dendrophyllia not so long.

Different types have different lengths. I have the same kind as you, that massive one. Its tentacles don’t stretch out as far. The more yellow one I have is a slightly different type. It’s got crazy extension.

WOW!!!

Which makes me wonder, how many different types of dendrophyllia are there? Not much info on the net as I recall.
the Balanophyllia look like dendrophillia. I've never seen a balanophyllia in person

This one has a totally different face. Tentacles are shorter and the mouth is very different.

These are more yellow, longer tentacles and a completely different mouth. This one catches food easier but I’ve had this one for awhile now. The other one is still new.

I’m in awe. Those are beautiful. The blues on that first one, such a rare color in corals.

Over a year ago, I saw one at a LRS. wish I would of bought. Bummer :(
I can’t tell you how many times I regretted not buying something. Also how many times I regretted buying something.

When I started again with dendronephthya colonies(10/2017), till recently, one issue I had was over feeding. Finally mastered it. But when they're feed they close up, that tells me possibly dosing pumps came on. Tells me still a little more food still being dispensed. But they open up again.
