I have a DIY LEDs fixture with 3 dimmable meanwells. I lost power on Sunday this past week and I think the power surge fried the meanwells. Is there any way to test them before I buy new ones?

Probably best if Bill from reefledlights answers that one but I'd get a voltmeter and check if there's any output power from the + and- wires.
Good luck

Check the voltage from your controller first. Its possible that a power outage dumped the programming. You can substitute the controller with a radio shack enercell AC-DC power converter or 9v battery.

The drivers are pretty much bullet proof but it is possible a power surge was unkind to them.

Ok I tried 9v and the meanwells work on all the lights. But now I still can't get the lights to come on with the apex. Can the rj45 cables be the problem? Also thanks to everyone who help with the meanwells.

are you able to make your own cables and if you do you can check to see if you have 10v from - to +. if you don't then the program on the apex is the cause or the port. try another port then if that is the case. you have four 2 per channel. manual over ride the outlet or put the outlet in a separate out let from the house or not the eb8 or what ever you are using.

Have you tried manually turning them on from the apex on a pc or phone if you have it hooked up that way???

If the wires were plugged in and you used a ohm meter I guess you could test the signal as you crank them up from the apex... Without the wires in there you would prolly have to remove the cover on the apex unit and get to the inside since the prongs are so close together I don't think you could get them in there.... On second thought maybe get a needle and stick it in each little prong Thingy "sorry don't know the correct name haha" then hook your leads to those and see if you get a signal or not...

I turned them on manually but they still don't fire up. I may have my programming wrong.

If you can turn them on manually using the Apex, then it must be your programming. I assume that the program worked before the power outage? Could you post the program here?

If Time 09:00 to 10:00 Then WHITEUP
If Time 10:00 to 19:00 Then ON
If Time 19:00 to 21:00 Then WHITEDN
