Yeah it’s a cool spot for sure! Did you have a chance to explore the museums or anything else in San Diego?
Yep went to a bunch of them in the park, went out sailing by Coronado. I was there for a week last year for work rented an AirBnB in Cortez hill area and walked down to the convention center each day.

You have 500 people under you, every one of them tries to take short cuts, goal is to catch them.... I mean no disrespect. Maybe time to change the strategy?

You have people hanging 200’ + off of a tower, goal is everybody makes it home at the end of the day. If we are not monitoring them another tower owner or OSHA is

I am a Medical Assistant for an Infectious Disease office. I love my job because I get to help people who are in need. I love when people tell me I am one of the best MA's they've had because I show that I care. Gives me the greatest feeling ever.

But it does have its down falls when I have to deal with some patients who yell/scream, be little me, and curse at me because they did not get what they wanted or don't want me to do my job the way I am suppose to do it.

But I still love my job. My dream job would have to say becoming a Physician Assistant. :)

Most days I love my job. I manage a locksmith company, we have 8 employees. 3 road techs and 5 in out shop. It’s always different and challenging. We are the only ones who do what we do withinn 50 miles and people rely on us. The technology is very cool to. Programming car keys is not straight forward, EEPROM is an art form cause if you mess up you get to tow someone’s car to the dealer to fix. Safe drilling is no where what the movies make it out to be, very slow but very cool. At the end of the day people love us and Rely on us big time. We are a big part of the local community. It’s always something different

I absolutely love my job and wouldnt change it for the world, i am a barrister in training and i love the drama of a courtroom, although most of it is boring trivial stuff and the joy when you make a conviction, hopefully looking to become a fully fledged judge one day.

I am a Turf specialist at a high end golf club. Most days I love my job. When it is 100F or 0F and having to be out working in it is not fun. The long hours do get to you but seeing the sunrise every day is a big plus. I also get to work with my dog everyday.

Radiologic Technologist (Xray Tech) I've been at a major Level I Trauma Center for 33 years. I spent the first 11 working 12hr nights in the ER and really enjoyed the adrenaline rush of never knowing just what was going to walk/crawl/be dragged through the doors next. Lot's of great stories. I didn't know just how burned out I was getting until I moved to the Cath Lab and patients actually started thanking me for helping them. I had gotten so used to be cussed out by idiots who ended up there due to their own ignorance that the first couple heartfelt thank-you's sort of startled me.

After a couple years there I realized that the Cath Lab can ehlp, but really it's often just a holding action until the next blockage. Then I discovered Electrophysiology. We can actually cure many of our patients with ablations of their arrythmias so that they never have troubles with them again. THAT is why I got in to health care in the first place! To be able to tell people that they can Fly - be free! and never have to come back and see us. We also perform many implants of pacemakers and defibrillators - allowing those people to live happier, healthier lives as well.

Long hours? Sure. It's not a job that ends at 5:30 just because the time clock says it's time to go home. Dirty? Well, unlike my last job you often can't see the creeping crud, but it's there nonetheless. Seemingly thankless? Sometimes it seems so, but then we'll get another wonderful person happy to see us and glad that we are there doing what we do.

I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I'm a senior software engineer in the cannabis industry. I love that my job is unique and the challenges of working in a fast-growing industry. Writing the actual code has lost some of its shine for me, but the bigger picture stuff, business decisions, and product decisions keep me really interested.

I don't see myself staying in this industry forever, but I'm soaking up all the crazy experience I'm getting right now working in the fast-moving startup and fresh industry world where you've got to wear many hats. At my last job I was going onsite with clients (walking through huge grows) and better understanding their flows... or going onsite to smooth things over with a client after an outage, failed feature launch, etc. I love those parts of the job as much as the engineering side, if not more.

What really matters to me the most is our coral reefs though, and I know for my happiness I need to ultimately work in this field. Whether it's conservation, the hobby, or somewhere between, I'm keen to get involved. I've started volunteer work with the camera housing / control company Chasing Coral collaborated with for their time lapse experiment. Hearing back from them and being able to get involved has me over the moon right now :)

I love my job and enjoy going to work everyday!

I’m currently working in an aquaculture facility trying my best to learn anything and everything I can to help improve the success and advancement of the industry and myself. Everyday is an adventure and the people are amazing as well.

High School Math Teacher...best job ever. Many teachers make it hard on themselves or just outright hate students?? Kids really are for the most part super happy and enjoyable to be around. I feel bad for the teachers who dread every day...

I'm a Software Test Engineer; I try to break software, in order to make better software. Currently, I am doing mostly grey-box[1] testing for Best Buy, on their website and app, for the Ad Engineering team.

I voted yes.... I don't actually *love* it, but it's somewhat challenging, pays well, and seems to be leaning toward being fine with me working remotely even after COVID is over (if ever). The people are nice, the team is doing good work, and are at a point in their software quality assurance lifetime that I feel like I can contribute significantly to the tech culture.

I've had a couple jobs I've enjoyed more, but most were way more high-stress than this one.

I can't think of any other job I could have, and get by financially as well as I am, that I would like more, or even as much as this one.

My utter dream job would be to make the salary I am making now, but be a traveling landscape photographer: spending 1-8 weeks going wherever I feel like, taking photographs, then returning home for a few weeks to edit and post them, only to head right back out again.

TL;DR I don't wake up and do backflips in excitement start working, but it ain't a bad way to make a buck.

--Gray

[1] Black-box testing: you don't know or have access to the underlying code. You test the software as if it were a "black box", you can change what you put in, and observe what comes out.
White-box testing: you have full access to the underlying code, and are often writing code to test that code directly.
Grey-box: a combination of both. I have access to the code, and can write automation or other code to help test it, but I also do a lot of hands-on playing with the software, looking for ways it is/can be broken.

I used to be a tugboat captain sailing worldwide. My longest ocean crossing without seeing land was 6 weeks while crossing the North Pacific Ocean from Hong Kong to the west coast of Mexico. During my time at sea I saw countless whales, killer whales, dolphins, sea turtles and other marine life. I really loved it but on the downside I missed so many holidays, anniversaries, birthdays and funerals while I was at sea but I would do it again without a doubt.

Now I still work on a patrol boat/fire fighting boat for the harbour masters office but now I can finally keep a reeftank :D

I love being retired Soooooo Much better. I worked as a construction electrician foreman for 40 years in Manhattan. We built and renovated buildings all over that city. Some of it I loved like when we built the New York Playboy Club. Penthouse magazine office and lit up the top of the Empire State Building. I also worked a few Victoria Secret and Miss America photo shoots.
But for about the last 37 years I counted down the days until Retirement.

To me retiring while you are still alive means you won. Dying before you retire means you lost. :p

The last two years I worked, when I boarded the train every morning every one would yell out "HOW MANY DAYS" because everyone knew I had them counted.

My last week I called my Union and asked them how many hours I had to work that year to get credit for the year on my pension. They told me I had to work until Tuesday at 11:00 am.

On Tuesday at 11:00 am I was on top of a ladder. I dropped the tools on the floor and told the apprentice they were his.
I walked out with my hands up in the air like a surgeon.

The woman in the office asked me what I was doing? I said, I don't work here any more.

On my way home I had to stop at a plastic surgeons office to get my face bigger to fit my smile.

I wound up with a second job because of COVID and can now afford my reef tank, if I only time off to enjoy it. Congrats on the retirement!

I'm a driver manager for the largest truckload carrier in the world.

I mostly love what I do, but there are moments I hate.

I like that such a large company operates as if they were a small family business.

I love the owners I work for now. Small family businesses are the best. They actually care about the employees.

I am own a network consulting company. For the most part I love my job. Not everyday is a winner but as long as it is in the plus more than the minus you are winning. I have worked for dozens of companies throughout my 26 year career and some have been horrible while other great. People make the lion share of the good/bad when it comes to employment. I had a great job but the big boss was a psycho and made it unbearable.

I have liked all my jobs or I would not have done them, lol.
Currently city p&d class A truck driver pushing 8 years.
I like being my own boss but moving 2500lb pallets is getting old at 63.
Before that 12 years in auto sales and management.
Best time was being the dreaded closer for 2 years.
Before that 19 years in Silicon Valley as a chemical engineer.
That job was fun but the last years of constant traveling got to me.
