I just got some rock from a fellow reefer that that shut down his tank. It was live rock that he took out of the tank and let dry out for a few days. Can I just put it in a big storage container with saltwater, a heater and a powerhead and some bacteria to cure it or do I need to bleach it? Could I add a couple pieces of live rock I have to the container with it to help the process?

Does it have a lot of growth on it?
What I would do is get it wet and scrub it with a stiff bristled brush to get most of the dead/dying stuff of it. After that, proceed with the curing process of your choice. Your idea of a container, heater and powerhead is what many reefers do. You can also seed it with some live rock of your own.

Personally I always soak the rocks in a bucket of bleach water for a few days. The inside of the rock will be full of dead organic matter that will start decomposing when put in the tank. The bleach water will melt everything away.
