I have had this Emperor Angel for almost 10 months in an established tank that has been up for over a year. All parameters are within normal limits. No new fish in over 4 months. All other fish are perfectly fine but I have no idea what this is on my Emperor Angel. It's yellow looking and on the side of its face and developed a day ago. Started treatment with Seachem Metroplex and Kanaplex. Any ideas of what this could be and any treatment suggestions. All other fish in tank have no signs of any sores and are all acting fine. Emperor Angel is eating fine as well.

Looks like an injury which has become infected and should be treated ASAP to prevent further infection. Treat in a separate tank using Seachem Kanaplex with airstone added

Thanks for the input. I was thinking possible injury but wasn't certain. Will move him to my quarantine tank and continue the Kanaplex.

That sort of brownish, raised lesion resembles a rare external fungal infection seen in marine fish from time to time.

I've treated it with 100 ppm formalin dips for 45 minutes. However, formalin is toxic to people and really shouldn't be used in the home. However, if you want to try it, I can walk you through the process.

I would also feed your emperor more. He looks thin to me. At 11months your fish should be fat, chunky, and growing fast. I also see what appears to be some very minor HLLE above the snout and could we get a full shot of your Tank? Not much Algae in there for grazing. These fish also need a hiding spot usually a cave. Mine likes to have a secure spot.

I think the reasonable thing to do is treat in a separate tank with an antibiotic - I do not think metroplex is needed or warranted - and may cause problems. There are other anti fungal medications one could try if this were the case as jay thinks = like fluconazole, etc.Could also be an untreatable tumor but those don't develop overnight nor should fungal infections)
