Potentially dumb question, but would you be able to mount the light to the mounting arms somehow? Or would that be to much stress on the mounting arms and tank side
I wouldn't risk it. The fixtures aren't terribly heavy but you are extending the center of gravity further from the arms, which will increase the stress.

The radions peak at about 50%. Each bank comes on two hours after the radions hit peak, and turn off two hours before they ramp down. So the t5s are on 5 hours a day total. The unit is 14 inches above waterline.

I wouldn't try it. In order to get the light over the tank, it has to sit out pretty far. The fixture will probably lean a little with the extra weight. Probably easier to figure out how to retrofit the AP700 to the hybrid and hang one unit.

Thats kind of what I figured. I'll just undo the arms and hang it from the ceiling then :)

I received mine early last week. I hung it from the ceiling and kept the AP700 on the mounting bracket.

Any pictures of the hanging kit by chance? Does it come with drywall wingnuts or how does it mount into the ceiling?

I will take some first thing in the morning. My tank is in the basement so, I have a floating ceiling. I just wrapped the wire around the aluminum framing. I think if I were to hang it from drywall ceiling, I would try to align some eyebolts with a few studs to help center the light or use toggle bolts, which work great when a stud is not available.
Edit: the kit only comes with the wiring harness. Nothing else.

I added 2x4's to my ceiling framing up in the attic to support the light fixture. I am not sure I would trust toggle bolts. In my opinion it is too high risk depending on the total weight of the fixtures added and their value. Not to mention possible damage to the tank if it falls. Aquariums also tend to increase humidity which, if high enough, can moisten and weaken the drywall.

Here are some close ups of how I have the light hanging. If fits right under the arms of the AP700 and the space in between the two lights are perfect. Makes it look clean. The light can probably rest on the braces that come with it but should be fastened somehow, maybe Velcro strips, so that it acts as one unit and doesn't slide.

In order to center it better, I slid the anchors in more on this side and decreased the slack on the other side.

Mine is up!

Actually thought B+ were "more blue" than they are, I love the look now, just seems cleaner. However I actually wish the tank was a bit more towards the blue side than white and there is no way the LED's are going to make up for it unless they are up at like 80-90% which isn't happening.
