Hello everyone!

It’s been a long time coming but the day is finally here! After a hot water heater failed we were forced to temporarily tear down my tank and leave it in an “essentials only” setup while we repaired the basement

What better time to upgrade to a bigger tank!!!

I’ve been about 1month into the cycle and getting ready to add some fish! This will be a mixed reef sps dominate and I LOVE FISH!

Setup;
Bare bottom 125gal 6’ long
Triton 44 sump (which adds about another 40 gals of total volume)

I currently have a med size purple tang and a med to large yellow tang from my old tank.

Any suggestions would be welcomed!!!

My thoughts;
A pair of clowns
A mated pair of blue throat triggers
3-5 Anthias
Original purple and yellow tang
Maybe another tang? Maybe some chromis? Reef safe angel?

Love your feedback!!

Cherub Pygmy Angel maybe? My personal favorite fish in my tank is my flame hawk.

IMO, if you have 165 total gallons (about 135 water volume after displacement) and, assuming you have really good skimmers, UV and pumps, and use 3 gallons per adult size inch as your guide( many use 4 or 5 gallons per inch), you can house about 45 inches of adult size fish. Clowns, triggers and 2 tangs is about 40 inches of adult size. Add i anthias and your at approx 45. I would definitely hesitate on adding any more. Again i used 3 gallons of water per inch so already being aggressive. Good luck.

Good luck...hope it works out.
Yes thank you! For the most part all the fish will be juvenile so the 3gal per inch shouldn’t apply right away. Ultimately as the fish and hobby progress I like many others will upgrade or trade the larger fish for smaller versions
