Flippers reef 125 gallon

Yay pods and phyto!! Oh no on the chaeto...you had a massive section full of it! But also yay for the frag section, that’s always fun! I’m running two of the vipar lights on my 90g and I like them so far. I think you will like them. :) what kinda frags you plan on growing down there? Also, how is your tomini doing? I’ve seen a few on DD but they don’t have the vibrant colors like yours. Maybe DD has a different kind than you.
Edit: I see the tang in the monti pic, doing just fine and very brightly colored!

After reading 1717 posts, all I have to say is WOW! :) Well done! I do have one question though... Dosing bacteria and then using a UV sterilizer at the same time... Seems counter productive. Am I missing something?

Thanks for documenting your nearly 3 year journey so well!

Looking forward to getting back home and modding my CBBs!

Thank you. It's been a journey with this system. Lots of fun and enjoyment! Glad you followed along!

Dosing bacteria..... It will adhere to most surfaces, rock, sand....etc. little stays suspended in the water column. All good.

The tank has grown out a great deal since you saw it in person.

Sometimes chaetomorpa will just decline for no reason.

So the idea is to frag a great deal out of the display and mount them on the plugs. Keep them down there to sell or give away. Lol I just can't throw away coral. That's just not me.

Tiki the tomini is very happy and fat. She's been a awesome tang and I'm very fond of her.

Mounted the UV properly

Ordered the aqua illumination 15w UV today. Gonna plumb it in the DT and see if I get the same results. Glad I came over here and you mentioned it looks like “snow” at night in the tank. I noticed that last night. Hopefully after clearing the DT I can move the UV to the sump to continue to kill on a lesser needed level! (I just don’t want the little pump in the DT forever)

Your welcome. I still have some, but nothing like before. Going to up the bacteria dosing.

I’ve already started dosing MB7. Might get some pods if that’ll help the sand

Pods and phytoplankton they say helps. Any biodiversity.

Ordering pods and phytoplankton this week. I believe they will help with the eco system in my tank and as you said, diversity.
I have already added cup of Florida live sand into the tank and a cup of live mud to the rubble in my sump.

That is great! I’m going to be ordering this pretty soon too

Cool!! Do you plan on any upgrades or modifications like you did with the DT lights?

No at this point. I didn't have a chance to really look it over good as I was getting ready for work, but looking through the lenses, they have the same diode form factor as my Mars. So that means I could mod them at some point! That's good news.

Now I'm waiting for my tubes of gel super glue and frag plugs to arrive. They should be here in a couple of days.

Always wanted to incorporate a frag rack into a system. Should be cool beans when its done! Shiny new lights are always nice :)

I'll be posted pics as I go. Updates soon.

My gel super glue showed up at the house awhile ago. I'm at work.

Just waiting for the frag plugs now.

Update:

My BSI super glue gel has arrived in the mail and this:

I've searched everywhere locally for this and it's all out of stock! Had to order it in bulk. I'm set on calcium hydroxide for a very long time!

Before I left for work this afternoon, I found time to move the led shop light over the sump back out of the way so I could make room for the Viparsectra. The hanging hardware that came with it looks to be long enough (hopefully!), But I won't know for sure till I hang it. We will see this weekend.

The 100 frag plugs I ordered will be here Friday.

So once they show up and I get the light fixture mounted, I might start fragging from the DT. Might.
