flow help

So iam in process of setting up my new 38 gallon tank i bought 2 koralia 3s that put out 850 gph each and a aquaclear 50 as a fuge which puts out 200 gph it seems like it is too much flow because my sand is being blow all over would i have enough flow if i just ran one koralia 3 and the aquaclear? i plan on keeping some sps but mostly softies

Well,when I keep a SPS dominated tank I take a do my math:

38 squared=1444 GPH

I tround it,so I think you need around 1400,but that does sound like a bit to much,I would take out 1 K 3 and then as the corals grow,put the other one in,as corals grow flow is restricted,so its okay that you have 2 power heads,you will find a use for the other one,but for now run 1 of them.

You could also try adjusting the angles of your pumps. Maybe bounce them off the front of the glass or the surface. I was worried about my sand moving when I first set up my tank but I adjusted my powerheads so that any bare spots were created behind my rock work, out of view.

I would downgrade to 2 k2s myself for a more wide spread random flow than a single 3.... But the thoughts mentioned above will work just as good for now...
