Haha, whats up with all the expensive equipment still being in the box? You'll love the automation you can do with it, it'll definitely make your life easier.

I've been running my apex for a few months...advanced programming from the pc is similar to programming in C. All of the commands are already there if you program from the display though...easy either way. Setting up on your home network is easy, and the feed setting is awesome. I have a feed for fish, for coral, and one I use to change water. So many things you can control really sets your imagination as the limit.

I've never been a big fan of feed modes on controllers. For my own preference, I like pouring food right in front of the Vortech, allowing it to fly around, spreading around the tank so all the fish can have a chance to eat, instead of the hog heads eating it all up before the smaller guys have a chance. To each his own, just my preference :)

For my fish feed, I only have the main power head turn off and the return pumps...keepin all of the food in the tank and not the overflow for five minutes. Two other powerheads spread the food around the tank, within ten seconds all of the food is everywhere and everybody gets to eat. And when I say everybody I mean everybody, (tank comes alive, snails bust out of the sand, hermits come out of there holes, brittle stars come gliding across the sand, acro crab gets himself a piece or two, anemone catches what it wants, my two chalices and favia even have there feeders extended) it is the most active five to ten minutes of my tanks day.

Coral feed is similar, only turn the return pumps and main pump off for five minutes, then return pumps off for an additional 45 minutes (keeping small particles away from my skimmer). Every three days, do the coral feed instead of fish feed.

i use the feed modes for maintanence, not actually feeding. Waterchanges- i can kill all necessary pumps with one click for an hour. or when i dose MB7, one kills the skimmer for 15 min and then turns it back on - that way no forgetting, which i've been known to do...
