Hair Algae?

Ok I need a little advice on what to do. I have a 105 gallon sps domiant tank with a refugium. Well about 6 months ago I had a bad break out of hair algae. For the most part the hair alage is under control now in the display. My problem is that in the refugium I have a really bad case of hair algae. Every week now I pull and scrub as much of it as I can out of the refugium but it keeps coming back. I have replaced my rodi unit filter, added filter socks, and new carbon and no luck. My question what can I do to stop this growth in my refugium. Also my levels are all in check. If I add a small powerhead to it would it help? Please help!!!!

Yes a SMALL power head will help stirr the bottom. Also whats your po4 at? i know you said its in check but alot of people say this and dont truely know. Also what did you test with?

Turbo snail is a good idea:

I think you are running into the same problem I am, in which the bad stuff is getting settled in the fuge, instead of being able to make it out and get cleaned. Try uping the flow to the fuge, and like others said, put a powerhead in there to make sure the water is moving and mixing well.

a blue dotted sea hair would take care of it as fast as it grows, and they look kind of cool to boot. not sure if it would starve though once all the hair is gone

Personal opnion, get a power head and keep in sump. Also, try some GFO( granular ferric oxide). This did the trick with water changes in my tank to kill the HA

Plus, they are had to keep cause they get stuck in pumps and such.

I would try the powerhead in the refugium, as you might find that its the easy answer.

plus one to GFO i added that and some turbos and my tank is really picking it up its been about a week since i read that it was supposed to be tumbling and now i am starting to see results i dont know if its the fact that i added the turbos or the gfo but either way imma say the gfo helped that way i think my money spent was worth while ha ha.

+1 to the gfo. I'd also go with a few astreas as well as a few emerald crabs... you could also go with an urchin but there are drawbacks to that.

+2 on the gfo you need something to soak up some p04 carbon won't do thatfor you. pura complete is a mix of carbon and gfo if you dont have the reactor for them seperately.
