So I have a reeftank that is running for about almost a year now. I have bioball in my refugium . I want to buy plates of liverock and redo my aquascape. Can i remove my liverocks and replace it with the plates that im going to buy? Or how do i need to proccess for changing Liverock and redo my aquascape ? Will it cause a small cycle? Ammoniac?

how big is the tank? If you replaced all live rocks and put in new dry rocks then that is more likely asking for trouble. I would put in new rocks slowly to allow them cycled.....after a month, take some old rocks out and put some more new rocks in.....Or just cycle your new rock in a bucket.....

New live rock is likely to come in with a lot a dead on it.....the Live bit we all want and need is really fragile. If your talking about rock from a store online you need to cure it...cycle it alone out of your tank first.

No base rock are the worst. bulky dense chunks

Look LR is part of the filtration the eco balance of your tank....cant rip out part of it with replacing it...and your sure cant rip it out and stick in an uncured half dead thing.

I totally Understand wanted to change aquascape..... I do it all the time but.... but stablisty is improrant and at least up grade if you do.
Quality of LR is about... how much surface area it has. Never bought anything Base and been happy with it... it's basically whats FL is made out of.... someone dug it out of a back yard dont buy base.

Yes, you can buy new rock and add it to your tank or sump and allow it to colonize with the bacteria. That is if we are talking about dry rock. If it is wet live rock add relatively small amounts at a time or use your tank water in a rubber maid or other container to allow it to cure.

Oh yes age your new rocks in a bucket. you would not like what happens if you dont. and you will still probly have a small cycle when you start adding your new rocks. dont add them all at once... good luck..
