Question from a newbie. I just bought a 60g cube tank off craigslist and it came with an led light fixture. I have no idea what the brand is. I was wondering if anyone knows what kind it is. For now it's just going to be a FOWLR tank but eventually I want to add a few easy corals and anemones. Would these leds work? They're just rows of blue and white light.

If they turn on and make light, they'kk be fine for a FOWLER. For corals, probably fine as well, but I would check your par levels at various heights in your tank to see what kind of output they have...

That is what is commonly referred to as a "Chinese" fixture. I am going to guess, from the foil like material over the LED's, that it's about 4 - 5 years old. They typically came with one blue channel and one white channel. When they first started showing up, there was no name on them. Eventually you'd see them with a name. I have an old TauTronics that looks similar to the one you have there. Here's a poor picture of it:

Back when these fixtures were introduced, our LFS was selling them for around $300. We had club members that did keep SPS dominant tanks going with these fixtures of only blue and white LEDs. Today you can find a new and improved Chinese fixture that includes more aluminum cooling fins, full spectrum, controlability and lenses for well under $100. I recently purchased THIS fixture for $78, free shipping, and I'm impressed. Have to wait to see how it holds up. It's the one in the middle with blues only ON.

I'm so glad to hear that there are affordable upgrade options. I think I prefer to stay with leds so I'll keep these for now since it was such a great deal and then once I'm ready to start adding corals I'll upgrade to a more full spectrum affordable option.
