Mine is in my garage and is controlled by my controller system. The first photo is the RODI system. The second is the solenoids used to control it. The third is the control board in the garage behind my workbench where the controllers are located. The forth is of the storage containers which are three 20 gallon brute cans. The one on the right is DI, one is fresh salt water in the middle and one is the mixing tank the one on the left. When the DI tank goes low the controller will turn on the solenoid on the input to the RODI and the one between the RODI and the DI tank. It shuts it off when the tank is full. When the fresh saltwater tank goes low the water in the mixing tank is transferred to it and once complete the mix tank is refill from the RODI like the DI tank except the solenoid between the RODI and the Mix tank is used. I also use the RO side for my ice maker in the fridge so the input solenoid is turned on for 10 minutes every hour to make sure the RO bladder get refilled if it is used. If any leaks are detected it will shut off any of the water processes in the garage. The mix tank and DI tank also have float valves on the RODI output for a backup. The refill process also is times and if the times set for completion is exceeded it turns off all solenoids and sends an alert. There are also dispense pumps in the DI and fresh saltwater tank where I can dispense into containers as needed.

That's a serious set up! This thread has made my process seem very archaic lol

My setup goes whole house filter with massive sediment filter then 1000000 gallon carbon then to 7 stage with dual chloramine buster down to my 2 44 gallon brutes. Use cheap pumps for water changes and avast for ato. Simple setup works great.

You really don't it is kind of cobbled up to do what I wanted.

Sure I do. It’s wayyy better than my mess. You at least bothered to put it in a box. My mess it screwed to a piece of scrap wood that I used tapcons to screw to my block wall in my unfinished utility room.

Nothing fancy. 75 GPD 6 stage (Gross Filter, 2X Carbon, RO, 2X DI) under the sink to 44 Gallon Brute. Manual fill... Oh... And a float valve in case I forget to turn it off!

You'd think after 3 panicked clean ups I would get a float valve but...here we are! How's the under sink look for you? Mine is insanely cluttered since it's the kitchen sink. No room to add anything extra

Hey I found pictures on my phone. Isn’t she pretty LOL. The intentions were to test it on the breadboard and then actually put it into a project box. So far it’s going on probably 3 years on the “test” breadboard.

No not really. I end up getting help from my electrical engineer father and programmer brother. So me is saying diy for things like this is at times a little bit of a stretch.
Ah I see, my family is in finance so they just yell at me about how much it costs. No help from them haha

Are the drums stationary? Spigot on the bottom? How do you use it
Yeah just in my garage, drums can be moved for cleaning etc., standard blue HDPE drums. Spigot nearby with this fancy spill prevention device below

I just hang the output in whatever I am filling, one of the two drums for SW mixing, or my jug I use to fill the ATO. I don’t find much use in automating this part of my system.

Mine is under the bathroom sink that's next to my "mancave" where the tank and big screen reside. It's a big cabinet so not too cluttered. It's my bathroom so no wife stuff in the way. I have a ball valve that is easy to get to that turns the supply water on and off. It is a little bit of a pain to drag it out to change filters and DI resin, but that doesn't need to be done too often.

75 gal storage in the garage for RO-DI. Plumbing is connected to a 75 gal Saltwater reservoir in a closet behind the DT. With the saltwater reservoir in the house, it’s temperature stays close to that of the DT. Pump allows transfer, and then recycling the saltwater reservoir. valves allow getting fresh or salt water when needed. Auto water change through Apex.

Who knew the cheapest Amazon solenoids wouldn’t be very reliable.

I had the same experience. Take a look at the US Solid 1/4" electric ball valve, the two wire version with auto return. Energize, it opens. De-energize, and it closes... so, power failure? It's going to fail OFF. They operate a bit slow, but dead reliable. One of mine has been in use for 6 years now, without any issues at all.
