Looks like a Nudibranch. Similar to Spanish Dancer/Hexabranchus sanguineus. Very very cool

Going to go along with others here and say "some kind of slug/nudibranch", but I've never seen one quite like that one, and I've never seen one _move_ quite like that one, either.

I'm thinking that @Lionfish Lair would be both interested and helpful here!

I had to laugh.... that is THEE most ungraceful looking nudibranch I have ever seen. They all don't swim as pretty as the Spanish Dancer, but usually they don't look like a 300 pound hockey player trying to learn figure skating. Dendronotus iris.

It's a specialized eater, most likely eating the algae type that it came in on or something associated with that algae. Provide that algae type and you may be able to keep it alive for awhile. Be aware that obviously the nudibranch can swim into power heads, overflows.... Boy I wish I could see it in person.:D

I got 2 off a piece of sea weed and didnt notice! The other is sucking on the seaweed and alot smaller

I think they only eat tube anemones. That's not good news for your guy. I'll keep looking to see if I see instances of them eating something else.

What beach did you collect at?

The "slug" has the swimming movement of a "Spanish Dancer" (Hexabranchus sanguineus), but they have red and white coloration. Here's a video of one swimming: .

There are a couple of kinds I know of, both of which are considered aquarium pests: digitate and colonial. I have some colonial ones in my 90. I thought they were a type of colonial feather duster, which they kind of resemble, but they are more closely related to jellyfish and have some sting to them. Digitate hydroids look to me like a micro-gorgonian. I'm sure if you sear R2R you'll find some pics.
