interceptor help!!!!!!!!!!

ok got my hands on some interceptor today so how much do i dose and for how long?
what needs to be removed form the tank?
i am dosing a 40 breeder
so it has about 30 gallons in it so how do i do this?

check out melevs site for instructions. i think its 1/4 tab per 100g, but i'm not positive.

remove crabs & shrimp if possible.

What size tablets did you get? Full tank dosage is 0.06 mg per gallon of water.

At 30 gallons you need 1.18 mg. Do that once per week for three weeks.

one pill does 300g. remove carbon and poly filters , stir sand during dose, keep skimmer running but plug the air intake so it does not skim. after 6 hours do a 30% water change and add fresh carbon, after 2 weeks dose again and 2 weeks later again.

so if one pill does 300 gallons my i dont need much then for 30 gallons? 1/4 a pill do fine can you over dose?

Some have used it at 4x the dose with no ill effects.

so should i do 1/2a pill for 6-7 hours then do the 30 percent water change and add new carbon?

You can also crush the pill with a pill crusher or 2 spoons and break the dosage down further by measuring with a small spoon like the ones used in some of the Salifert test kits. This is how I measure the dosages for dipping corals.

just a few shavings in a bucket of tank water but this method is for your new arrivals , and dont forget the skimmer intake. its improbable but there could be eggs in the shimmer

never heard of stirring the sand...:(
also i would run it for like 12hrs personally i left a hermit carb as a donor and it took a few hours before he died and i also read it takes like 6hrs for the intercepter to become potent....dunno
i nuked my tank last week and i ran it 12hrs and just changed the carbon afterwards all is well...... changed the water a few days later as my schedule allowed.....

Nope... Corals love man the next day polyps were out in full force... If you read melves site he let it cook in his tank for 12hrs also... From my exp with it I think you could nuke the tank and never do anything to remove it like carbon or a wc. And the corals wouldn't suffer.... I'm not a pro with it but have never seen or heard of any harm from using it, for 12hrs or more..... I know with dips it's a good practice to dissolve the pill 5 or 6 hours before using it.... Hth... Soccer bag I think is the pro here he will chime in...;)

The last couple times Ive dosed I did no water change and didnt run any carbon after words without any ill effects I just got the skimmer backup and running and let it go. I did my water change a couple days to a week later when time allowed. I dont know if anything has changed with the pills as its been a couple yrs since Ive dosed
