I think that a great way to tell if your tank is deficient of iodine, is get a small frag of pulsing xenia, and when or if it stops pulsing, add some iodine.

Heard that iodine helps xenia grow faster.

I dose 1 drop per 50gal 2 x per week.

Have to make sure it isn't other issues causing the Xenia to stop pulsing first. I've noticed (and read so in Calfo's book) that under a certain pH my Xenia will not pulse. Salinity, from what a friend observed, played a roll as well.
