Just saw this white spot on my male clown and was trying to figure out what it is. From all the other pictures I’ve seen on the forum it appears to be Lypho but I just needed a second opinion. It seems too big to be Ich or Velvet. He is eating and swimming just fine and the other fish don’t seem to have any marks on them.

This would probably get more attention in the fish disease forum rather than the hitchhiker forum.

That would probably help. Sorry I didn’t see that on the list. I’ll delete this one and start it over there. Thanks.

Here are a couple more you can see another one on his left side as well. I’ve had him for about 3 weeks the female doesn’t show any marks on her. Both are acting completely normal and eating both Mysis and pellets

Looks to be secondary bacterial lesions often associated with brooklynella and often treatable with ruby rally pro

I looked up brooklynella, and it doesn’t look like this in my opinion.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

I agree, this doesn't look like Lymphocystis. It could be the start of Brooklynella, but the fish doesn't seem to have the additional symptoms that brings on; mopey swimming, not eating, rapid breathing.

Can you post a video? That will help confirm Brooklynella.
Do you know the source of the fish? Are they wild caught? Brooklynella is most common in wild caught clowns.

This may well be aggression from the other clown.....

No not Lympho. Lympho usually presents of the tips of the Fins or Tail. Could be some sort of bacterial growth.
Post a couple of additional pics and some background info on the Clowns behavior and when you got him.

@winxp_man

In the first pic, I saw a bump growing off the fin. It’s what I was looking at.

But these more defined pics show a different story.

Op as Jay stated a video under bright white lights, and 20-30 seconds if possible. Most phones can now do 2k and YT allows for 2k videos to be posted.

They are not a fan of the camera.

I don't see any secondary symptoms attributable to Brooklynella. I can't get a good enough of a look at the lesion to say if it is Lymphocystis or not. Lymphocystis isn't super common on clownfish, but they can develop it.

I don't see anything immediately treatable here.....

Thanks for looking things over. My biggest concern was whether I needed to pull him out of the tank. I do think the two clowns are trying to figure out who is more dominant. I don’t think the other larger clown has turned into a female yet so it could be an injury from the larger one.

I will just keep an eye on him.

Can you put in a tank divider? You could then separate them if the fighting gets too rough, and then pull the divider a few weeks later to see if the dynamics have improved.

They are not a fan of the camera.

Are you using a phone? You can try zooming in on the gill plate to see if the camera picks it up better and you get a better video. In the first post it almost looked like a dirty spot on the glass of the tank.

But in the video you can see it sticking out off the gill plate.

One other thing, are you engaging the white lights as bright as you can? And turning off the blues all the way? I can also see that spot near the rail of the fish.
