But, having a tang with hlle and waiting for what will heal, I was stubborn to add carbon.
Cool tank!Equipment in use
Lights Orbit marine IC led (I hate these things)
SCA skimmer 302
SCA sump made as a fuge
return pump sca something. Its just all so generic.Jabaeo 4000 return pump. Very very quiet. I have had it for 6 months now.
Livestock
Emperor Angelfish - powder blue tang- melanurus wrasse - one spot foxface - 2 clown fish - 2 firefish
Random hammer corals - 2 torches - Birdsnest - Gonioporas
My aquarium is boring.
Edit: There has been a lot of live stock changes. The emperor and Powder blue needed new homes.
Powder blue was just too aggressive, emperor was just massive.
I have since added
scopas tang
Atrosalarias holomelas
Carpenter Wrasse
Currently
Thank youCool tank!
Cipro shouldn't kill anything in your DT. I use cipro in my fully stocked tanks when needed. If it's killing things it's not being used correctly. If you are concerned about the residual effects of carbon in your DT causing HLLE then I would recommend large water change. I know there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that carbon causes HLLE but I use a high quality activated carbon in my tanks with tangs and have had no issues. I think a large part of HLLE may actually be caused by collection chemicals and rough handling (stress) during shipping. All of this is only opinion. A heavy healthy diet and stress free environment are the keys to success for a tang with a chronic issue like HLLE.Whatever it is, is in main display. Cipro is a death sentence to many things if i went dt.
I am not trying to treat hlle. The tang is on selcon, nori, no garlic. I never seen any benefit to garlic, other than to trigger a feeding response, works on people too.Cipro shouldn't kill anything in your DT. I use cipro in my fully stocked tanks when needed. Also. Cipro is an antibacterial. It won't help HLLE as I understand it.
Oh lol... I misread what I was responding to then sorry @MibuI am not trying to treat hlle. The tang is on selcon, nori, no garlic. I never seen any benefit to garlic, other than to trigger a feeding response, works on people too.
No, just worried a bug is roaming around in water killing indo torches. Seems to be a problem of mine.
Those are probably indo, aussie are shorter and fatter tentacles. How can tell if indo or aussie torches?
The green one not looking as good as once did.had a power head break and while waiting for replacement and lots excuses as covid and can't get them.i ended up getting refund and only just got new controllable powerhead other day but can't mount it just as yet.
Bought a cheap low gph none controllable one and faced it at other in tank but torch gone downhill a bit since ,lots spirobid worms all over green torch and even on Skeleton at top.
Other torch on sand bed looks much more healthy
Ok thanks mibu.
As you can see here in video from August the flesh is around the skeloton and green torch looks much better .
I may try my best to add this power head tonight and move cheaper lower gph one lower down in tank and get bit more random flow around green torch .
See these spirobod worms.can I scrape them of body of torch without damaging body of torch or best to just leave them?
I read threads of people handling them and cracking body open you see .
