Marco Rocks questions?

I am looking for input from members who have used the Marco Rocks dry rock. I have heard that it may grow algae like no tomorrow because of the lack of Coraline on it and this makes it easy for nuisance algae to take root on it. Is this true? Also if you have it in your tank can you post some pic's and a review of it?

if that were true, any base rock would grow alge like there is no tomorrow. i just purchased some and i think it will be what is used in my new tank! of coarse i will get a few pieces of live rock to get the coraline alge started, but all base rock me....no pests!!!

Can you post some pic's of what you got? I want to kind of get an idea before I buy.

This was a 50lb box that I could not see when I got it. He said all the box lots are great rock and would not be dissatisfied which I was not at all and why I say I will only be using it.

Skinz check out my 220 thread again. Marco is all I used in my scape, well 95%, I prolly have like 100 lbs of dry Marco in there and it has grown coralline excellent! No bad algae in there for me!

Used only marco rocks on my 60g, never had any issues with algae and loved the scape possibilities. I've got pics of the rock and the tank in my thread.

I used it all to do my 300 and have never had any issues with problem algae. I would use it every time. I will try and get you some pics if I have time.

i added 100 pounds to a tank and never had a problem.

Be aware that Marco Rock does not get their rock from the same place that they were. They split company just prior to MACNA.

I do know that the company that was supplying Marco is now distributing threw The Cultured Reef. Index

Actually, I think he goes by Amphibious on most forums.... sorry I thought you said he was an old guy LOL.
He is up in age and has around 40+ yrs of saltwater experience.

My tank is all Marco... Not many pics of the Rock thou lol...
