An update of the small golden flake and multibar 12 days after transferring them to the tank. Both are doing well and eating with gusto. The first two days they were quite shy and both tangs in my tank gave them the "welcome" party. No big deal. Afterwards none of my huge fishes (compared to them) have harassed them any more.

I have been away for 6 days. Therefore the whole tank has been on a dry food diet. When I returned both small fishes were swimming freely and enjoying the tank with the rest of their mates.

Some pictures taken the very first days after they were free from the acclimation box.

That gold flake is beautiful, I almost mistook it for a narcosis haha

Current update and sorry to keep everyone waiting. I have decided to hold off on adding the imperator in but, not because of fish disease. It's due in part to aptasia. I have been battling them and some have grown to the point where they could actually catch and eat a fish it's size. So far I've gone through three bottle of Joe's juice fighting them. It's been a two week battle and I've taken to precision strikes and then further carpet bombing the area. At the end of this week is the plan to catch and release the beast. It is growing nicely and definitely a good eater.

The excessively white areas have been bombed....

Aiptasia and Cyano are two pests I will never forgive. Hopefully you can get the Aiptasia out of the way.

Well tonight was the night! The imperator is in the DT and doing well! I added a nori clip to the side of the tank it has been hanging out in so it's something that's familiar. Within an hour it was openly swimming and picking at the rocks(and the nori clip). It can see me and hung around the front glass like I'm reassuring everything is ok in the new digs. On another plus, one of my giant shrooms is splitting tonight too!

So far so good with the imperator in the DT. Cruises around looking for food and eating everything that is dropped in. Gets almost grumpy when the nori sheet on the clip, runs out.

Got a call from my LFS that they had 4 different angels on this week's list and if I was interested. Venustus was on the list at only $150. A rusty and a nox were also on the list. We opted actually for the xanthurus instead, apolemicthys xanthurus. I know the direction is multiple dwarfs in one tank and we will get there but I couldn't pass up a chance at this one. Should be here tomorrow and I requested them to leave it bagged and we will pick it up direct.

I’d be getting that venustus, this was an Angel I wanted for my 3’x16”x1’ tank. Now I’m settling for a Multicolor if I can ever find one again.

Pictures are always fun! Another bold angel that swims around. Hides only slightly when someone approaches the aquarium but, doesn't stay hidden long.

We also bought a 20g to upgrade the QT. Unfortunately i wasn't able to do that before the fish came in but, all future angels/fish will get a larger holding cell.

Bullseye the imperator is a pig and thoroughly enjoying the spacious 220. I'm already measuring space for a future upgrade though, I wish I had the room that Dave has over in Utah or mehaffy does down in Alabama.

Hi reefsamurai. I'm sorry for this tardy response, but I have been away on vacation. The size of the box is 40 cm (15,75 inches) x 17 cm (6,7 inches) x 22,5 cm (8,8 inches). The material on he crate is white plastic that I buy in a local shop. The plexiglas was bent in the same shop for a minimal amount of money.

I have bound an old Tunze magnet which, together with its counterpart outside the tank, keeps the box in place. I also added some plastic screen with a small pore size because both fishes were small.

Well it's been almost a full month and I have had zero disease issues with the xanthurus so today it went in the main display. I did however take a page from your book chema and built my own "shark cage"!

One of my LFS that I have been getting my angels from has a few more angels in, a few lemon peels, a nice yellow orange bodied coral beauty and a tiny cherub. Less than an inch tiny. Another one has African flamebacks and flameangels along with a very shy (albeit Kenya munching) Singapore. Decisions decisions... Although the first one also threw me a curveball. They have a yellow boxfish and a white spot box fish. I only have ONE quarantine tank!

I’d grab the Coral Beauty (Especially if it’s a tiger tail). I’d also go for the Singapore if you don’t have too many coral you care for.
Also the tank looks beautiful, how’s the imperator doing with the sight of a new angel?

Hasn't really paid attention as it was too busy stuffing itself with pellets.

I have two colonies of Kenya tree, one of which is neon green so the Singapore is out. We will probably go with the coral beauty. That or the eibli I forgot to mention. It is quite large and dwarfs even the imperator currently.

Hi Reefsamurai: well done! That's a true piece of art. Congratulations.

I saved some plastic crate by skipping on of the big walls, taking advantage of one of the aquarium sides for that purpose. But yours is safer and great for both small and big fishes.

The cage has worked wonderfully for me. Since I use it I have lost no fishes due to harassment after their introduction in the tank.

That's my goals. I've had aggression issues from the previous inhabitants so I'm taking steps to prevent any future issues.

I considered leaving the front open but Murphy's law was in the back of my mind. I am glad I did not because that angel went through and tested every boundary and opening it can poke it's noise into so far.

I will keep everyone updated on what route we decide to go fishwise.

So what would you consider a tiger tail? Is that where the side striping is prominent all the way down the body into the tail itself? The ones here local do not look like the image I've included but those are awesome!

I say a Tiger Tail is when the striping doesn’t stop before the caudal fin and goes all the way into it. Even if the orange doesn’t follow it and you can still see that striping I would say it’s a tiger tail.
The very top two photos show stunning tiger tail CBAs but getting hold of one like that isn’t easy. The LA Tiger Tail photo is more like what you would usually find.

I just saw that TSM aquatics out of New Jersey has 3 multicolor angels in stock. Little pricey at $160 but if you really want one you might want to act fast.
