So im in the market for a new computer and im looking for somthing that will meet all my needs and get me threw the next 5ish years. I know i want to go with the imac. I will be using it for the rest of my photo career untill i get my masters. It will only be used for photoshop cs4, light internet use, music nothing more then a little internet poker but mostly photo work. I want to be able to run music, while using photoshop and have no lag. It will be holding over 10k photo's in time with a few thousand music files. i know i want there 27inch imac but it comes with two versions.

27 inch screen
3.06GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo
2560 x 1440 resolution
4gb memory
1Tb hard drive
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics with 256mb

For the 1699.99

The other one is
2.66GHz Intel quad-Core i5
2560 x 1440 resolution
4gb memory
1Tb hard drive
8x double-layer SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics with 512mb

For 1999.99

Granted they are the listed price i will not be paying those take roughly 10-15% off, but money aside what one would meet my needs. Is the second one over doing it? Also please relize almost any part of this computer can be upgraded like 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7, 2Tb hard drive all the way to upgrading the ram. Please any help will be ALOT for me, i'm great with a camera, know all the in's and out's of camera talk but nothing about computers, and thats what i need.

there's a huge issue with the 27" imac and production halted. google the specs of it...

I just did seems like they are just hard to get is that true? or am i missing somthing.

For 300 more u could run much faster. I think even with the cheaper set up u should be fine. But for the money I'm suprised your not gettin a better video card

You do get a slightly better card i think that what the ATI Radeon HD 4850 graphics with 512mb. I would get 100 off the 1699 and 200 off the 1999. I was thinking about just going with the better one but im not sure if it was evon worth it because do i need that much

With $300 that's a nice jump and would hold u off for awhile 256 bit card is just old school these days and the quad core is always welcoming

Yea, after my discount it is a 200 diffrence, granted the tax+extended warrenty is another 300 so it puts me right back up there, so i think i am going to go with the 1999 version.
